I didn't want to hijack the "weighting the T22" thread with my review, so starting a fresh thread. I'm also going to keep my impressions to just the wake or related things, as I don't think I need to go in to detail on the pros/cons of stuff like the interior layout (nice quality and very spacious), handling, etc.
I was able to get out on a T22 and get some riding in. This is just my opinion after a couple sets, and is based on my comparison to my A20 boat/wake which (if I do say so myself) I've really tweaked well and continues to blow away riders of all levels that I can get that much out of a 20 footer. hahahhaha Seriously I am INCREDIBLY lucky to have my boat on the Cali delta and get to ride with some really amazing pros and advanced riders from time to time. Because of that, I do love to be able to really slam the boat and throw a massive wake while not having to deal with a ton of sacs out in the boat. More on that to follow.
About the T22 demo boat T22 didn't have plug n play installed, but we weighted it more or less where that would be. We had two 400s in the bow in a V, and 750s in each rear locker. I've heard that the plug n play bow sac is supposed to hold about 780 or so, but honestly can't imagine that much will fit under that bow so we were likely running a bit heavier than plug n play up there (more along where it would be with some additional lead). We had the hard tanks full and had the wedge down. Two adults and one rider, 65/70 foot line at 22mph to start with.
Pros - Wake had a really nice shape and size for just having roughly stock plug n play. MUCH more vertical in shape than my A20 wake, and MUCH narrower which was nice. The wake also felt more firm and solid...absolutely love my A20 wake, but this one definitely felt more 'poppy' and from transition to lip really felt rock solid all the way through. Nice little lippy kick at the top too. I also tried it out with everything drained. Had more or less that Axis clean wake all the way down to 18mph or so, and I would say that the wake was even more mellow (and smaller) than my A20 unweighted. For my intermediate skill level this wake with plug n play was totally awesome and easily all I could ever need. Also had an advanced rider out with me, and he tore that wake up and was really getting booted.
Cons - Well, not really a con for most maybe just me. As I mentioned, I at times do love to load up the boat and make the wake crazy. For the T22, I think you'd have to do that with bags out on the seats as there really didn't seem to be too much space for Pop or Leadwake bags up in the bow. I'm guessing you could pop the front cushion off and cut the hole bigger to put a few up in the very tip but that's about it that wouldn't restrict the bow bag being able to fill. As for the cabin...one of the best things about the T22 is the storage but I think that could get eaten up quick with the amount of bags you'd want to run. The T22 is a big, high out of the water, floaty boat and I think it'll take a lot of weight to really slam it. The rear lockers are huge and you could easily run 900s or 1100s back there BUT I'm guessing would have to run a lot of weight up front to balance it out. Now, generally anyone wanting to run enough weight to really slam the boat and make that big of a wake won't care at all about filling sacs and having them around the boat, but again my style is more hidden weight.
Overall - Loved the boat and have my A20 for sale to possibly get one (or still considering A24). The wake was awesome, and I can live with running sacs for those times I want to slam it for more advanced riders. I've put a few pictures below, but was an epic fail on our part that we forgot our camera so they're just iPhone pics my wife took and we had line too short at first. I've also included one of my favorite shots of my A20's wake for comparison (wake is all me, rider I really wish was me haha). Not at all a fair comparison given how my boat was set up, better camera and angle, etc but at least it gives you an idea of both.
Any other questions about T22 or comparison let me know.
