Oh I dont know...lets say someone forgot to hook that back up before launching their boat. After runing for about 15min they realized it wasnt hooked up. Is that going to cause any damage to the motor?

Did the engine overheat? Did you flood the engine compartment with water?

Are you the first guy to ever do this? Probably not. :)

It ruined the entire boat. Sell it to me for pennies on the dollar. I will take the total loss off of your hands.

jk. The admin is right. What were the consequences?

Well I didnt say this happend to me, but if it did...the engine did not overheat. Was still climbing, reached 125 and the bilge pump came on and stopped the engine compartment from filling with water.

Question is more about the flow of water i guess. What could have been harmed without water going to the other side of the motor? Im pretty sure the impeller still pulled water to the water pump and ciculated around half the engine?

If the bilge kept the water from getting into the lower half of the engine that is a good thing. I have had water almost over the oilpan in the past and still did not get any water in the engine(older nautique).

Worst case you could have over heated the engine and it would have quit working. It sounds to me like the engine did not overheat and all is ok.

I have known a time or two that a hose has been left off after a de-winterization. Luckily owners have caught the issue and then just put the hose back on.

You're good to go. I was with my buddy on his boat once after dewinterizing and the tech did of connect the hose. We did however find his tools and rags he left in the v-drive locker.

Okay, thanks. once the bilge kicked on I knew something was up so shut off the boat and realized what was up. Connected the hose and ran the rest of the day no problem, just wanted to double check.

The only thing that's going to damage is the fibreglass exhaust box.... it's designed to run good and wet. Little water will have gotten to there. So long at it visually looks good, and the exhaust fittings/hoses all check out then you have no worries.

You won't have harmed anything on the motor, all that happened is the water at the end of the cooling system that should have exited the back of the exhaust, exited into your bilge :-)
