Has anybody surfed behind a new A20 with surf gate? Pictures or feedback would be great. I have been looking to buy one and want to stay with an A20 due to garage space.

We demoed one last fall. Here are a couple pics of the surf wave and a video.

We had stock ballast with 450s? in the lockers and the arrow bag under the bow. We needed the 750s or 600s and another bag up front. There was only 2 adults and 2 little kids in the boat. I believe that was no wedge?

An A20 should be pretty similar to a 22, correct? At least that's what I understand with the non surf gate models. And from what I have seen the above pics don't do a properly weighted surf gate wave any justice.

Those pics don't do the wave justice. We were messing around with our dealer on a private tournament lake. The A20 wave will be similar to the A22 but shorter.

Here is an A20 without surfgate.
It is listed with the weight on one side. 450(might have been 700) pnp in the back and the bow pnp with wedge.
I have yet to try an A20 with surfgate.

But either way, I was definitely stoked on what that little boat could produce.

Yes, standard pnp rear and bow sac but there was also one 40lb pop bag in the rear and 3 in the nose. Of course that's assuming I recognize that beanie! LOL ;)

Thanks for the information. Wave looks really good. Is a decent wave achievable without plug n play? I'm going to check out a 14 A20 this weekend so wish me luck.

As long as you have 10 friends onboard then it's achievable without PnP. Other than that good luck because its still a 20' boat.

Definitely get PNP. For surfing you should get the 750s. It makes it much easier to ride. It takes a lot more skill to ride with less weight, and it is less enjoyable.

When we demoed that A20, I was surprised how much bow weight it needed for being a smaller boat. Dealer explained that the shorter a boat is the more bow rise it will get and the more weight it will need to counteract. With the A22 and A24 there is more boat and weight ahead of the motor to counteract the pnp bags in the lockers. I'm sure you guys already knew this but was a surprise to me. Good reason to go on demos and get to know your dealer :D
