I think most of us have the OJ Cinco, 1235 or 2313 on our boats. My question is what is your average RPM at cruising speed? And by cruising speed, I mean whatever speed you run from the ramp to your slick water wake spot. I am coming from a Wakesetter (not sure what prop I had) but cruising at 24mpg was around 2500RPM. Now it seems with my A22 (1235) I run 3300RPM at the same cruising speed.

I feel like I'm wasting gas. Is it okay for the engine to stay at that RPM for 15-20min while getting from ramp to ride spot?

Just wondering if this is the norm.

3300-3500 for me, but my lake I normally go to is only 6 miles end to end so it doesn't take long to get where I want

Those revs are totally fine; the boat will run all day long at that.

The likely reason you're seeing a hop in revs is because the std prop on most all Wakesetters is circa 14.5 x 16 plus a little cup. The prop in your boat is well down in pitch, as much as 3-4". The axis boats were built with nothing but wakeboarding in mind with no provision for top speed.

I'd suggest that if you're worried about gas and don't need the extra hole shot you're getting from the current prop I'd switch to something along the lines of a 4 blade 14.5 x 16 prop. Also try and run light, don't fill ballast or drop the wedge until you really need to.

Hope that helps :-)

That helps. I was looking for confirmation that other Axis owners run those RPMs and that its okay for the motor to run that RPM for sustained amount of time.

I cant give up my 1235, I love my full ballast too much!

You are wasting gas - Surf to your destination !!

I love me 1235 prop as well. Ill happily give up the top end. Everyone already thinks my AXIS boat looks like the fastest thing on the lake. Maybe it is 0-25mph.

5 blade average about 3000 rpm and somewhere between 25- 30 mph. Sorry I never really pay attention to that stuff so if my numbers seem off that's why but totally agree with Morris ..... Surf to your wake spot you need to warm up
