Thinking about trying out Belton this weekend. Any recommendations on where best to launch? Any good hotels or restaurants on the water for an overnight stay?

Thanks in advance.

Lake is 9 feet low. All ramps are usable but none of the courtesy docks are in the water. You can maybe nose up to the corner of the courtesy dock at Franks Marina. No hotels near the water and only restaurant on the water is Deadfish Grill. Great view, great ambiance...worst food ever and service is almost as bad. IF you want to eat there just stay with burgers or their top shelf queso. Find "the sandbar" (aka: the flats) for some good chill people and only boats can get to it so no douche bag dudes like you'll find all over Temple Lake Park. The 40-50ft waterfall on the south side of the main body on the lake is nice and only accessible by boat as well. There's 4 Axis boats on Belton regularly.

As far as restaurants goes the taqueria near the Belton Walmart (it has a blue awning) is a favorite with boaters and they have an empty parking lot next to it that boats use. Schoepf's BBQ or The Gin downtown Belton are both good and consistent. I'm still in Colorado working until end of next week or else I'd be happy to show you the lake. If you see a white Axis, that's Adam and Jill they are on this forum. We like to stay out late on the lake and several of us have underwater LEDs so we light up the water really good. Hope to meet you soon.

Give us a shout on here bud and we'll hook up... we'll PM you our phone number if you choose to come out. I would go ahead and count on NOT being able to use any docks; be prepared to swim to your boat.

I'm back in the oil fields in Colorado. Won't be on Belton until Sept 12th until maybe the 25th.

Hey, you got a RECON with a red truck as your tow? If so, you parked right next to me yesterday.

I did and I saw your trailer and tow as well. We looked for an Axis but didn't see you on the water.

Loved Lake Belton - thoroughly enjoyed out day there. Probably our favorite lake at the moment so a few more trips are in order. It was a lot smoother than I expected a big lake to be overall, but when the wind came up we retired the wake boards and did some surfing and then just motored around a bit till it got calm again. Waterfall was amazing as well.

Went to lake georgetown again today and was surprised at how much cleaner and more clear Belton was. Cleaning the boat took half the time yesterday that it did today.

All in all well worth the extra 30 or so minutes. Hope to see a few of you out next time.

Kyson, where did you launch? We are heading to Belton tomorrow and have heard good things. We have the Vandall you see on Georgetown all the time.
