I have been filling and emptying my ballast with the motor idling. I feel this is putting unneeded hours on my boat but I was concerned about my batteries getting low. I do have a dual battery setup so maybe I am just to paranoid.

Was wondering what everyone else does?

Thanks,
Jason

I've been filling / emptying with the engine off on a single battery and haven't had any issues.

I definitely think you are being paranoid, as long as your battery isn't shot,
It shouldn't be taking that much juice to fill with the engine off.

If you are running two batteries you should be fine. I have never had a boat battery run low because of pumps..
