We are leaving next week to spend some time at Lake LBJ. This is my first time in the area. I did some research before we booked the house on the best areas to stay. We booked a house on the Colorado river arm of the lake as it seemed that this was the best spot for riding.

Any of you guys been there before? Any tips on areas to stay away from/avoid, those underwater objects that locals know about, etc...?

I've never been there but I bought a boat from a guy who said it was bad about having driftwood, he showed me receipts from having his lower unit replaced on 3 separate occasions there, so be careful and watch out for wood.

there are a few rock formations in the main lake too... they are not marked very well... don't go up in any of the channels and watch your depth finder.

Thanks alexandera. I had read a little about some rock formations way up the Colorado and Llano river arms, but not the main lake. Thanks for the heads up and i will keep my eyes peeled.

The Colorado is the way to go for riding. I would stay away from the Llano side because there are some low spots. Some of the coves will also be shallow so be careful if you got into some of those to ride. I have not seen much floating in the water but maybe I have just not been around the time they are releasing water??
