You'll want a 1 - 1/16" socket. From what I've read the torque to tighten the nut is 35 ft.lbs.

12" crescent wrench that opens to approx 28 mm.

this is big enough to loosen a tight prop nut as well as works on your prop puller nut. 2 nuts, 1 tool... also will work as a hammer in last resort situations.

well played sir.

looking at some other posts though im now fearful about swapping it to start my day tomorrow (prop is supposed to show up in the mail today!!).....

from what I see in some other posts most everyone uses a harmonic-type puller, however I have the clamp style. Anyone have any issues using these on the 5 blade?? I would hate to oshow up and have it not work and not be able to use the new prop all weekend!!

I don't think the clamp style will work with a 5 blade.

ron, you have the cinco prop? okay, that prop puller you have will not work. You need something else, like the harmonic puller.

But I pull mine often using a little heat (mapp gas torch, propane will work but not as well, takes longer). It only takes 10 minutes to pop it off this way and put on your new one. Don't worry about torquing the nut down, the tapered shaft allows the prop to seat well as the prop spins.

What do you do? Heat up the hub a bunch and tap it a bit?

I removed my Cinco today and the harmonic puller didn't do the job for me. I first heated it with a porpane torch for about 6 minutes (just on the hub) and then smacked the puller about 5 more times. Didn't budge at all. Then I switched to MAPP gas and the prop popped off after a couple minutes of heating (no hitting required).

I had used a marine grease when I had last installed. This time I used anti-sieze. Did some reading and found some suggestions that it's a good idea to remove a couple times a year to keep it easy to get off.

yeah ron, back the nut off a 1/2" or so, heat hub for a couple minutes with mapp gas torch, and if it doesn't pop off like it did for Dave, then you start hitting the back of the hub with a mallet using a short 2 x 4 or 2 x 2, trying to pound it backwards off the shaft. The first time I did this my prop was on for over a year, it took me a few minutes of heat, then a few good hits. The last few times I removed it, it slid right off with a little bit of heat just as Dave described.
