Hi Everyone,

I have been looking to buy an Axis. Cant afford a new one so i am looking used. I have been reading the forum and still have a few questions hopefully some of you wouldn't mind ansewring about an 09 A22.

-Don't see much discussion on that year so looking to hear if the first year of the axis brand had the same quality as subsequent years.
-has a 335 hp engine. Is that enough power for a 22ft boat?
-anything to be aware of with that year that would make me look newer?

Thanks in advance for any insight you can provide!

Don't know a ton on that year but I have had multiple boats with the 335( including my current a22) and it is plenty if propped correctly. If not the main issues are inconsistent cruise control and taking a whole to plane out.

With the right prop that motor will pop an A22 with 4k in ballast right out.

Hi Ron,

Thanks for the info on the power and prop. I will make sure to get the right prop!

Greasy, I've got an '09 and no complaints whatsoever. I love my boat.

The only main changes are cosmetic, they moved the grab handle, different speakers and moved a few of them, moved a few cup holders around, added one in the dash, changed a few cushions, made the glove box lid smaller, made the glove box door open up instead of to the side, different vinyl, different gauges, transom seat, no major changes in power train other than a few more engine options.

The 09s don't have the step down to the platform. The 09/10s also have the older style of platform which can interfere with your surf wave.

I would also recommend checking the service records for the boat. It's likely that you'll see a tach replacement to fix a problem with cruise control not engaging. You can find additional details on this thread - http://www.axiswakeboats.com/viewtopic.php?t=31&p=1825.

Actually the 09, 10, and 11s have the old swim platform. We should start a spreadsheet

Thanks for all the feedback guys I really appreciate it! For some reason most of the info I could find on the 09's was peoples opinions on them when they were first released prior to anyone actually using them. I will check into the tach replacement.

Thanks again!
