I bought a used 2010 Axis A22 with the 335 in it in the spring of this year with only 53 hours on it. It was a repo from Cali so it has the cats on it. It has ran fine until the other day runnin WOT back to the dock to pick up more people all of a sudden the RPMs jumped up and the overheat warning and alarm came on. I had this same problem last year with my MC so I went through all the steps I learned lat year, check intake, check for clogged hoses, check impeller. Everything looked fine, my gauge got all the way up to 205 degrees and the top of my cats are now a dark brown color but the bottom of them coming out of the block are still the grey color. Today I pulled out my thermostat and put it in hot water on the stove, and it popped open just like it was suppose to. So iam currently stuck and do not know what else I personally can try to look at to fix this problem. Iam a fairly good mechanic on just about anything so iam trying to do this myself to save myself a buck but iam beginning to think this is a much deeper problem then I expected not to mention the nearest Axis dealer is 2+ hrs away. Any suggestions or similar experiences? Anything at all would help, thanks guys!

Ohhh and not to mention the crapy weather we've had all year and it's currently sunny and 80.

How long did that all occur over? Did it seem OK after that? Did you check the inline oil cooler?

Was WOT for maybe 5 min wen it happened after sitting at idle for a bit dumping ballast. I immediately took it down the neutral n shut it off, got towed to dock and temp was down so I re fired and it started right up but was sounding weird at idle and temps started to come back up so I shit it off. I didn't check the inline oil cooler no. Should I? If so what steps should I take in checking?

It is a place where you could get a clog. The cooler isn't a strong metal (cooper / cooper blend ?) so you have to be careful when you tighten the hose.

Do you have a flush kit? Might be worth checking to see if you have a water leak anywhere and thus a spot where air might be sucked in.

Ok where is the cooler located and I will check it out? I do not have a flush kit, I look at a DIY fake-a-lake someone posted on here I might try that if not a fake a lake is havta order off line and wait 3-5 days and all that. Iam trying to miss a bare minimum amount of time on the water. Only other idea I had was to back it into my buddies pond and work on it.

I took every cooling line possible off, back flushed it, cooler was clear. Getting water to the water pump but not to the motor, impeller is fine, starting to think the water pump is cracked or the shaft is broke. Taking it to the dealer first thing Saturday mornin on the nicest forecasted weekend all summer. Not thrilled or happy at all.
