So we ordered a new 2013 A20 and we love the boat. Having a difficult time dealing with the dealer on issues but that's a whole other topic.

Anyway, we have the quick disconnect tower (with folding hinge and rubber nobs). The first question is are you guys finding it awkward when the tower is folded down? The top of the tower where you hook the rope doesn't fold all the way down to the seats like on the A22 because it hits the engine compartment covers first. Then, I can't pivot in my tower arms without hitting the back of the drivers seat.
All in all that is a minor issue but wish we would have been told its not as convenient to fold tower down on A20 compared to A22.

But the big question, are the threads in your guys towers helicoiled in? I assumed the tower would be drilled and tapped for the nobs. Helicoiled isn't something I would have ever expected to find on something like this unless there was a mistake. So do you guys also have helicoiled holes or are yours straight up drilled and tapped?

I also seem to have a multitude of small electrical problems but I'll post them in a separate topic.

Thanks for the help!
-Brandon

I also have a '13 A20. When I've taken the tower down in the past, I slide the skybox seat forward, stack a couple of books on top of the hard cover for extra height, and put the board/brace on top of that (the one that was shipped with the boat from the factory that has the tower notch in it). When I lower the tower it sits nicely on the brace and doesn't put pressure on the layout pad or my speakers since its hovering just above it. Also, the tower arms can be easily removed if you want to deal with that. I've seen others on here that tow with their towers down that remove the arms and just lay them on the floor.

To best of my knowledge the holes are taped

Mine are drilled and tapped, no coils, but it doesn't surprise me that they would heli coil the holes in newer models not as a mistake but to prevent the threads from stripping, remember the tower is aluminum and stainless steel threads will last much longer. If I ever wear mine out I'll just heli coil the holes myself

You can probably slide the driver seat forward to avoid hitting it with the tower side support. That works in my A22 anyway. It is definitely not the easiest/most convenient tower to fold.

Where did you buy from? You don't have to say, but if it was Sheveport, La it doesn't surprise me. Post some pics

I got it from American Marine in Wisconsin.

My dealership was nice enough to leave this in the motor after the mandatory service check:

They were also kind enough to not put the side engine cover back in place (it was laying on the floor, I brought it up then took a picture of it).
