That cooler thread at WW got me thinking more about my Axis cooler and where I like to store it.
I keep it under the starboard seat behind the driver. It's a PITA to ask people to lift it and watch them drop the seat against the frame and I cringe every time thinking that over and over that will eventually rip or tear the vinyl.
I've started keeping the cooler out and just putting it on the floor (easier to access the freshments that way too :D )
But regardless, I do keep life vests, ropes, etc. under those seats and the same situation goes.

I'm wondering if anyone has considered making up some cool hinge for those seats?

I am in the process of having a cooler painted to match my boat. I bought the brute 50qt cooler. It sits nice right in front of the back seat. My plans are to remove that seat and put a seat cushion on the cooler. Here is where we are in the process.

Potato, By "Back seat" do you mean the center back seat? There is a transmission (at-least in the A22) under the seat there. Just a heads up before you go tofar...

I have been pulling that skybox seat forward and putting my stock Axis cooler under there most recently.

There's two awesome reasons for this:

1: It keeps the cooler kinda outta the way and outta sight.

2: It forces peeps to step on the fiberglass transmission cover instead of ripping the vinyl at the piping.

It's a WIN WIN!

Oh! Or... maybe I can turn that skybox seat backwards so it can't be pushed over the tranny cover and then the cooler can be accessed even with someone sitting in that seat!
Oh I think I found my solution! (the best ideas always come to me when I'm drunk!)

Hopefully I remember to check out this thread before I take my boat out next so I don't forget my new idea!

@ morrisdl Ya my plan is when I pull out the skybox seat. I will put the cooler in front of the transmission access box. Two reasons for this. It will allow people to get in and out of the boat with out stepping on the seats. Then with the cushion on the cooler it will act like the skybox seat is pull forward

I have often wondered how bad of a job it would be to remove the seat frame and have a welder move the rear cross member back about half an inch to an inch. if i remember correctly this cooler is only half an inch off. i would deff double check my numbers tho if anybody has theres handy

I went out and measured the seat frame and I was correct

13 in. wide 8 3/4 in. tall 38 in. long
So we would have to either notch the seat frame or move it back. I didn't pay attention to how the seat sits on the frame so that would also need to be considered as well

I had my eye on those stackers for a long time thinking of how to modify my seats for them...

Haha me too I even thought of just putting a notch in the cooler ...... They are cheaper then a new seat frame @ 30 bucks. I tried to find a cross section of a cooler to see if it was hollow or solid foam. I think it's solid so if you notched a 1/4 in gap on each Side it should fit.

Scratch that it's not tall enough ........dang it
