Hi Everyone,

I'm looking at picking up a new a22, and have been studying all of the options.

One question I have is can a 200lb person wakesurf behind the boat with the stock 900lbs rigid ballast system or will additional bags be required?

Also, I'm looking at the base motor, should I spring for the Cinco 5 blade prop. How will that effect top speed vs. out of the hole power with a 200lb wakeboarder.

Any other must have recommendations?

I would for sure get the plug and play ballast up grade. If you talk to anyone out there surfing they all add additional weight on top of the plug and play.

Also If you look through out this forum there are some real good write ups on what prop to go with. It just depends on what type of riding your doing. I have the high altitude prob and it has done me good.

Most guys run the bow PNP bag and a 750 in the surf side locker for the best surf wave, the standard motor will work fine if your altitude isn't too high, but having more HP on hand never hurt either!! I'm 230-240lbs and I have no problem getting up with the 5 blade on the wakeboard or slalom with the standard 335 HP. The 5 blade and high altitude are pretty similar on hole shot, 5 blade has a slight advantage. I have both props and like the 5 better mainly due to it being quieter and smoother running.

I agree with what's above, I think surfing with only the standard underfloor ballast just wouldn't work well.

Thanks guys, after much reading on this forum, I think I'm going with the base motor and the plug n play with the high altitude prop (I'm not at altitude but for the better hole shot).

For the extra bag in the front, I'm going with a 950 lb bag, but for the rears I'm undecided between the 400 lb bags and the 750 lbs. I want to have a decent wave for surfing (only every tried once but loved it) but I also read about planing issues with too much weight and the base motor. I'm trying to keep my costs down so at this point I can’t justify the bigger motor. Any recommendations between the 400’s and 750’s? Will I even be able to surf with the 400's?

I Have the same engine and prop set up. I run the 750 bags in the rear And add another 500 on surf side when surfing And I don't have issues getting to plane. I will see if I can find a video of us surfing with that set up.

I have the standard motor and run the 1235 prop at sea level with the 750's in the rear. They are nice to have when you are ready to surf. When we wakeboard I fill them about 1/2-3/4 of the way depending on if we are running the wedge or not.
