Axis Wakeboard Boat Forum

Hey everybody, I got into wakesurfing last summer and am now ready to do some upgrading. I have the A22 with 750s and the front sack. I am considering buying another bag and pump to throw on the surf side, anyone have any experience with this?
Also, I have a 5'6 hyperlite broadcast which was good to learn on, but looking for a better wakesurf board. Anyone have a new board they can recommend, and why would you recommend it?

What model is your boat? Just wondering which platform you have the new 2012 and later boats have the new surf platform which helps out with your wave. Mine is a 2011 same setup as you 950 front 750 rear 4 to 5 ppl in the boat we surf goofy side.

2011 A22 with 750 sac in rear, 400 sac on seat behind driver, front sac full, center with a little water, 400 sac on top of bow towards surf side, wedge down, only me driving, at 11.6-11.8mph

What kind of board is she riding?

Shred Stixx Thresher. She HATED that board the first year she learned. Couldn't get up on it for weeks (very buoyant, thick surf style board). After giving up on the board for months she tried it again and couldn't get her off of it

We are looking to get my wife a new board this year, not sure what we want yet.

I have a 2012 A22 so no problems with the platform. We ride regular side.
The biggest concern is when just my wife and I are out there and shes driving, I can still surf, but the push isn't as great. I was thinking of buying one of these for when its just us to get a better wave.

You guys think this bag is a good size to ride on top of the seats, and enough weight to make a big difference? I'm sure using it with a couple extra people will be great, just trying to get the best ride with only a driver in the boat.

Also, any recommended boards to be able to do 180's and 360's, possibly get some air too? The broadcast has 3 fins which make it hard to get around fast enough to stay in the pocket, and taking 2 of them out decreases the buoyancy as it just has holes shooting water up with them out. I know the boards can get to the 500 range, but any suggestions?
Anybody ride a surf style board? I haven't had a chance to try one.

I've only seen one person get air behind an Axis surfing and that's pro rider Chase Hazen. The boat they used was slammed like I've never seen an Axis slammed before. Once its slammed with weight the wake appears to have good shape and push. The Axis wake is really not lippy enough for weekend warrior ballast to launch airs...not saying it can't be done but you'd really need some massive weight to get enough push and pocket to either pump or to "butter" the board depending on the board you ride. I have an Inland Surfer Squirt and almost gotten the 360 down, still trying but close. I also have a Shred Stixx Thresher and a Ronix Koal, both are surf style.

By the way, if you get a surf style board, no matter what you get you'll usually need to purchase replacement fins because the fins that usually come with the board don't work well (unless its a Shred Stixx, Walker Project, or any other $600-$900 board).

My current board is skim style. If I buy a surf style board, do you guys recommend using the large fins? What are the primary advantages with that speed mostly? Can you still do spins with them on there?
