One of the main reasons I will never own another Axis! Mine had stress cracks all over. I could not even tell you how many days I didn't have it for two summers due to repairs... My dealer as horrible as they are pretty much gave me a middle finger because it was becoming to stressful for them. My dealer in Va
is the absolute first reason I would never own another Malibu product. 2011 A22.

Just wondering, if you don't like Axis or Malibu, what boat do you have?

So we decided to go with the a22 because we wanted the pickle fork bow and I have a couple of questions about the new tower and some features that I didn't have on my a20

1. When folding the new tower, you fold the side pieces in and then I was wondering if u let the tower rest on those side pieces? Or should I use a board to hold the tower up so that it is not resting on the side pieces which is what I am doing now?

2. The boat came with a Bimini cover and when I towed the boat home, the cover for the Bimini started to rip. I'm am kinda disappointed and with that I have to ask the question, should the boat be towed with the Bimini on or should I be taking it off everytime I tow the boat??

3. So this isn't really a question but the boat came with the bow cover however they did not put the buttons around the bow to hold the cover on which I thought was really dumb and I would have to install the buttons myself however I wasn't planning on using it anyways.

4. And lastly my boat came with sound pack #2 and I noticed that the sub was making a rattling sound so I removed the sub and tested it holding it in my hands. It appeared that the rattling was coming from the sub itself. The dealer is looking at it on Saturday but I was just wondering if anybody else has had this problem before?

I'll take #2 no you should not tow with the Bimini top opened. You don't have to take it off you can fold it and secure it to the tower with the Bimini cover.

I would ask the dealer about the bow cover while they are looking at the sub.

Ya see, I didn't tow it home with the Bimini open, I towed it home with it folded and secured to the tower with the Bimini cover and the Bimini cover ended up ripping

I just bought a T22 three weeks ago. I too have the same question about the tower down position. It seem very unstable to have the weight of the tower on the folded arm. It will be a lot of stress, I have Bimini, racks and four speakers.
We're going to North Caroline from Florida with the boat in two weeks and I'm looking for advice on best position for towing long distance. I'm worried that 8 hours on the road will cause too much stress to the support arms and hinge, if tower is down and resting fully on the arm.
Let me know what you learn.

BTW- did your top not come with a cover. Mine sits pretty tight in a cover and doesn't seem affected by wind resistance on the road?

I never have to put my tower down, and always plan to tow with it up but our dealer gave us the wood 2x4 shipping stand that supports the tower when folded. That's what they said to always use if dropping the tower.

What do u mean by cover? If u mean a cover for my Bimini then yes it did and it seemed to be pretty tight however the side pieces where flapping around and one started to rip. However on the bright side, the dealership is replacing it

I've had a few issues with my boat, nothing major. Dealer in Florida, Tommy's, has been great. They even replaced the seat cover because they didn't like the stitching.

It seems after reading a number of blogs and forums that the overwhelming consensus is to travel with tower up. I think I'm going to go to a canvas guy to have a custome cover made that wraps the full tower. It will protect it from crap on the road and from the sun when it's sitting out.

I revisited this topic today as I have experienced two long clusters of spider cracks on the hull and last week a larger crack on the transom running from the surf gate actuator screw to the drain plug. I bought my 2015 T22 in April. I'm really upset about it.
I'm feeling like this will be a perpetual issue and that this boat, that I truly love, may be a lemon. Tommy's, my dealer in Florida is a class act and is stepping up to be sure this is carefully assessed and made right. A patch won't be satisfactory. Luckily covered by warranty now but I'm concerned about the longer term.
To ecore66 or anyone else out there, do you have any advice? Are there any other boats out there, manufactured Feb/March 2015 with structural issues?
I will keep you posted as this issue progresses in the upcoming days. We're waiting on Malibu's response to my dealer. Hoping they do the right thing.
