Something I don't understand though....can't boat manufactures come up with a 2 speed gearbox of some sort?

It's been done before. MB Sports had a 2 speed transmission. I just did a quick google for it and most of what found was from 2008. I guess they gave it up, but I don't know why.

Thanks Ferral. Cool to know that I wasn't totally whack on my thinking. I actually work on a 300' boat and we have a variable pitch prop. We have the ability to tow very heavy loads but also have some speed when we need to get going.

They did variable pitched props for bass boats years ago

I think the 2 speed for MB had some issues of timing the gear change.
Example when you would want the gear to change for wakeboarding would seem like it would cause issues when you wanted to surf. If it changed above surf speed you would be in the middle of changing gears when boarding at slower speeds. Guessing it was a more complicated problem than its worth. Maybe a CVT will come out that can handle the torque.

Nautique has the 2:1 transmission now which gets out of the hole with the 450hp fully loaded just as good as the strongest motor they offer the 550hp.

I switched to the T22 this year. I have had 2 of the A22s the last 2 years. I like the room in the T.

How would you compare the wake on the T22 to the A22? I've seen and heard a lot about the A24 wake, but so far no reviews or comparisons on the T22.

How did the 800s fit in the rear locker of your T22 also? Did you need to reinforce the dividers?

The 800s fit perfect. Didn't have to reinforce anything. I'm running both 800s full in the back, center tank full, nose bag (under seats) full and then an 800 Ronix sac in the nose (over seats). I also have about 500lbs in lead throughout the boat. So about 4000lbs of extra weight then people, fuel and gear. No Wedge. It planes off super quick and the wake is huge with a nice landing ramp. I like it better than my last 2 A22s. Especially since there is more room and there is more storage under the seats along with the ability to put a hard cooler (included) under the seat. I love the T22. Glad I switched!!

Here is a pic. It's from up high in the nose of the boat but, the wake is big!
