Just removed mine. I left the housing and pump, on the boat, but took off the engine side panel and the rear (smaller) panel as well. I sat in the storage bay on top of the tank and stuck my head in on the side. Sprayed a little wd-40 on it and 5 min later pulled it out with needle nose pliers and worked it out the rest with two flatheads. I'm gonna leave it off until spring time and put the new one in then.

Just did mine again yesterday, this time I tried get_sums way, I took out the side panel on the starboard side and removed the rear smaller panel by the muffler, It only had 2 screws on it, then I pulled out the vent hose and just laid over and got to all 4 screws on the pump cover easy, popped it out with 2 flathead screwdrivers and slid the new one in, finished in less than 30 minutes, I'll be leaving it on from now on.
