I did some testing the past couple evenings at the ramp and I believe that the ramp is too shallow to allow non-powered loading. I did figure out that I need to get the trailer in a little deeper to allow the bow eye to get up closer to the roller. I was finally able to get the boat to seat properly on the trailer. At first when I tried to put the trailer in deep enough to float the boat on to it the bow roller ended up above the point of the bow. I think maybe one thing I could try with that is loading up a little ballast in the back to point the nose up but I think I'd rather just power it on. Eventually I found the spot where the trailer is deep enough and it doesn't take too much power to get on it.

Thanks for all the advice here. I'll try to remember to come back to this if I end up at a launch ramp that is different from my regular one.

When retrieving I back the trailer until there is only an inch or two of the trailer wheelwell out of the water. Also using a silicone spray on the bunks made getting the boat on and off the trailer a breeze.

"Liquid Rollers" has great reviews. I've never used it but I'm curious about it. It's been around for years as well.

I've seen how well the bunk sprays have worked in the past. I've been at the ramp when boats have slid off the bunks after using the spray.

So if you decide to use this make sure you stay hooked up or your boat might end up on the concrete.

I may try some silicone or something similar.

Why anyone would disconnect before backing down is beyond me. That's just asking for trouble.

Pledge sprayed on the bunks also works. Not quite as slippery or permanent as silicone spray or liquid rollers.

Also, for a little more peace of mind don't spray the back half of the rear bunks. The boat is typically floating above that area when you are down the ramp far enough and it gives it some grip when its sitting on the bunks.

Very good idea! Thanks!
