So I tried to get my dealer to do this. I was originally quoted $400 something, parts and labor. Seemed like a lot, but I was okay with it. They wouldn't order me a Malibu one (said they'd have to use a Malibu serial number instead of an Axis one, but that didn't seem a big deal given how many Malibu boats are in the shop.) So they ordered some other one.

Then they called me back saying they'd have to replace the pad as well (I'd assumed that was included.) They didn't have a pad unfortunately, so couldn't even get the job done. But the new price is $750. They felt it wasn't that they'd destroy the pad taking it off, but that they didn't have the right glue to put it back on. At any rate, I wasn't so sure it was worth $750 to me, so I told them to forget it. Maybe I'll do it as a DIY project. Very frustrating.

So is it possible to counter-sink the bolts? Do you guys think the platform is thick enough for that? I am just wondering what they do at the factory...

I only know of one Axis owner with a factory Malibu ladder and the bolts are counter sunk.

Home depot/lowes, ace etc. All sell countersink bits just go slow and check periodically to get it perfectly flush I had to do it on a previous boat but not doing this one till I do gatorstep which might be soon. If so I will make a thread
