This is great to hear all your wedge less set ups. I always felt so alone, feeling like one of the only people that do not use it. My set up is very similar to both of yours. The wake is sick sick sick.
Only thing DTB, what elevation are you running at? Reason I ask is I have almost exact same set up as you and with my 2315 (supposed to be less hole shot than your 2313… i've been told) I get up with no problem, but I am only at 1400' elevation. I even can throw the sumo 800 floor sack down and with a rider in tow and 3 adults, it still gets up… it takes a bit, but it will do it.
Actually the 2315 has a better hole shot due to the more aggressive cup than the 2313. With that much weight, it may be the slight difference in planing.
I started going wedgeless because when you drop a couple of thousand pounds in the boat and the wedge it gives the wake a lip. That lip always seemed to be abrupt and throws me off. The rampy wake seemed more predictable.
You are correct, I got that switched around in my head somehow. I remember when the 2315 and 2313 came out and that was the discussion… apparently that is still the discussion. If I could get my hands on a 2313, I think I could do a same-day water test with all 3 of the 15" props (as I have access to a 2419 i think). That would be awesome.
Yeah, after 2500-3000 the wedge kills the lip of the wake, makes it thin and soft and can make it foamy. I know there are guys with some great wedged wakes with 3000+ lbs, I just do not know exactly how they do it, I am assuming they throw a bunch more weight in the bow….
