I only have the throttle position slightly more than it needs to maintain speeds for slight turns, when I have to make sharp turns, I manually override by accelerating hard (keeping it at riding speed), then back down as I straighten so that the cruise will take over.
try that and see if it fixes your issue.
Damn I bet that's it....it has never happened with me behind the wheel, but when my friend was driving for another buddy, it happened. Most of my buddies that drive it have a tendency to just lay down on the throttle and keep it there.
When I pull a rider out of the water, I get a sense for when the speed-o is about to take over, and I throttle it back to about 50% just before the beep, so it's at a nice position if cruise ever stops working. This is probably why I haven't noticed it when I was driving...
