Cheap fix for slow pnp empty

I would keep looking....I found 800gph at my 'super' walmart for ~$30. I am 1/2 installed. Its obvious in hindsight, but the new pump has to be below the level of the bag. I also ended up replacing much of the black lines because 1) they are smaller than the clear 3/4" lines I bought and 2) the smaller black lines were a pain to heat up to fit on the T fittings. I am also switching the drain to be 1" from the merge to the side of the boat.

***UPDATE***

For some crazy reason, this setup seems to work about 3/4 of the time for me! I have no idea why, but sometimes the top pump will not pump. I assume it is because it is sucking air from the tank rather than water from the bag??

I installed a check valve between the new pump and the hard tank and it works 100% of the time! 3/4 " check valves were 10 bucks each, so add $20 to the top cost! Sorry guys!

Do u guys know the flow rate for the stock ballast pumps? I may have another solution but it will only work if they are 800 gph or more.

I just threaded my extra drain pumps right into the pnp bags and connected the pump outlet to the hard tank fill. This way I got rid of the slow gravity drain. It has worked great for me so far.

I wired them on a cigarette lighter to try it out for a while, but now that I know they work I'm going to give them each their own circuit and put them on relays that turn on with the other drain pumps. I'm wiring this way so I hopefully don't pop fuses and each pump gets full power.

Sorry morrisdl I was in mexico for the last week. I had planned on trying to put a 500gph pump in the same place mikeakatex5 and have them run with the fill and the drain but decided it would end up slowing things down in the long run.

mikeakatex5 do you not have to run the pump while filling or are you using the overflow of the hard tank to fill the bag?

No I don't run the pumps during fill. If you did it would just dump the water out the overflow. The water flows right through the pump while its off.
