When I was researching my first boat purchase the one common rule was to buy from the best local dealer.

I don't see my dealer crashing my trailer and lying about it or breaking things during repair. The fuel thing was likely a recall by Indmar and was handled poorly by the dealer.

I do find nuts and bolts around my boat but I assume these things are dropped into difficult to access areas and rattle their way into the spots I find them over time.

I'm not an Axis fanboy and am looking at other brands for my next boat but all too often brands(not just axis) get bashed because of a terrible dealer.

None of the big names make terrible boats all of the big names will have an occasional lemon and a terrible dealer can turn a good boat into a lemon.

I have had my fair share of issues and did not buy local but the dealer that does my warranty work now let me in on why alot of dealers don't like doing warranty on axis/malibu. They don't pay worth a damn like $15 an hour labor rate and we all know dealers are way over that. He said when he sells one he expects a few thousand of the profit that they make on the sell will eventually be what covers labor cost that malibu refuses to pay or fights covering.
He took care of what one closer dealer screwed me over on and will be the next dealer we buy from, not sure if it will be axis/malibu or nautique next but yes the dealer makes a big difference.
And for those that don't know nautique bought supreme from centurion which is why nautique dealers carry them now.

Dealer is most definitely important. I two with 20 minutes of the house that carry Mastercraft and Tige. My Malibu dealer is 1 1/2 away but has the best sales and service in the area worth the drive to me. I'm on my 2nd Axis with no issues with 1 Malibu also in there no issues and will be going with Malibu again next 2018 LSV when it's released. I think you buy from a dealer you trust and takes care of you. Never had a bad experience with Malibu unlike my one Tige I had worst experience I've ever had with a boat.

Well, I had to jiggle the fuse in its holder for the port-side surfgate once... It had some hard-water calcium buildup and became balky.

Best boat I have had. By the way, it is a 2014

My friends s238 is being built right now. Feedback from others on it vs an axis. Interior and fit and finish is top notch. Surf wave is great. Downsides are tower is super low, almost no storage, and according to my dealer (who use to do warranty work for supreme / centurion) is they are very hard to work with for warranty work. That being said I'll give you better feedback on his boat in a few weeks. Personally I don't like the style of the 238 the bow to me is stupid, either go full pickle for functionality or go traditional for looks. But overall the boat looks promising.

Here it's supreme and centurion at one dealer (who they just signed up with).
