I believe he is referencing a pricing list that MC pushed on its dealers for 4 boats. Prostar listed at 60k, NXT20 at 60k, NXT Global at 63k and NXT22 at 67k. Mastercraft has it on their website referenced as wintersales. I saw the pricing list at my boat show in Milwaukee as well. The price includes trailer, zero off, surf package, and a variety of other options. As mentioned above you have to add freight, dealer prep and taxes.
I certainly applaud MC on pushing out a price that, according to people on the MC forum, appears to be a good deal compared to recent sales. I think the same of Malibu's new 21' VLX.
That said, I'll never understand why anyone would pay 60 - 67 for an NXT. It appears to be well built, respected engine, and has a nice warranty. Other than that, I don't see a lot going for that line. Cheapest looking tower anywhere, not the premier wake/wave in its class, 91" beam on the 20, lots of exposed gel where padded vinyl should be, etc. My impression always will be that people only buy that boat because they are convinced they need a MC. If you need to have a MC and your budget is 60 to 70k I cant imagine why you wouldn't go used.
I didn't pay attention at the boat show. What did people see at the show for a decently equipped A20/22 or T22/23?
I'll bite on that one, if your budget is 60-70k used for a Mastercraft you're going to hit a few scenarios. You're gonna end up in the 2009-2011 range of which there is very limited availability or in a 2012 which numerous issues with the Medallion system that I'm not willing to risk. Especially now in 2017 that it's out of warranty. Most everything 2013+ and lower hours is still in the 70s and higher and you get the satisfaction and peace of mind of a 5 year warranty. I personally like the look of the NXT 22 on the water. It has a very nice bow rise to keep people dry, and doesn't dip much when slowing down heavily weighted.
Secondly the 2017 NXT 22 has the widest interior beam of all the MC's and it's quite roomy inside. I liked the open gel coat because you can swap out the interior speakers for 8"s fairly easily. I also didn't mind the tower one bit after they re-did the bimini. I have to lower my tower every time I store my boat and on my Axis that means crawling into the boat each time. On the NXT tower you can raise and lower it from the trailer which saves a ton of time.
I can definitely see how the open gel could help swap the speakers. And it does sound like the interior is wider than typical for the beam size. I'm sure there are others out there who agree with you, I'm sure MC isn't putting a turd on the water. I just don't like the boat.
As for the used boats, the whole premise was built off the idea that someone had to have a MC. I'd never understand that thinking to begin with so everything sort of implodes at the start. Obviously I'd hope that a buyer would look beyond MC if they were in the used market.
Glad you like the boat and glad that there are more players in the budget boat inboard market. At worst those MC wintersales listed prices give buyers of other boats a good tool to bargain with and hopefully get good deals across all brands.
