Your dealer is a real problem. Tommy's Florida handled mine so professionally. They inspected it on the spot with me and sent it to a local fiberglass expert who did inspection, took photos and did a report. Dealer coordinated with Malibu and the boat was sent on to Tennessee factory where they decided to build a new hull. I had a conference call with factory manager and my dealer that really set the tone for a positive result. It was about two/three weeks here coordinating the warranty claim, I was still using it on weekends. Tommy's sent it up and it was at factory for 2 months. I was given an LSV for whole time it was in Tennessee. Truly world class service.
Malibu team called me every week with an update and their QA guy did a great job getting her back to me better than new. In the end I was very happy, although, if you read my thread (Spider Cracks) from last year, I was freaking out about it during the process. I love my boat and hated that it happened.
Tommy's made all the difference. Obviously Tommy's is a well respected dealer and Malibu treated me well as a result of their support.
UPDATE :
My boat was at the dealer this winter to get the stringer fixed. I called today and they said it can't be fixed at dealer and is prepped and being sent back to the factory for repairs.
This is causing me some worry about the integrity of the hull for future use. It's also out of warranty now so future issues may be a problem, not to mention it's warm enough now to be using the boat and its heading to Tennessee for I don't know how long.
I am going to connect with the factory and hope I get good results and a permanent fix.
Structure of the hull is warrantied for LIFETIME. Unfortunately, these cases do exist. I've seen one case myself, and I can CONFIDENTLY say that the boat came back feeling phenomenally good. I spend a lot of time in said boat, and have personally driven it through at least two-dozen double ups since the repair. Boat feels super solid.
Please don't worry. It's in the best hands possible back at the factory. I frankly would feel BETTER about the factory fixing it than I would about a dealer fixing it.
