Chris, call Nick at Chaos, he lives and shapes in Austin. You can meet up with him in person and get you squared away for a true custom board in person. Remember Tyler saying my Chaos was his favorite board he's ever ridden lol. If you're looking for a beater beginner board for everyone just look for a LF Fish model...cheap, almost neutral buoyant, stable as hell, and surfs 10-12yr old kids and 270lb dudes no problem (saw this behind Brandon's boat)

I hate that you suggested the Fish. I hate that board with a passion. One of my friend's that surfs regularly loves that turd. It goes forward and backwards, just not a carver.

My 270lb buddy carved it well and he's only been ropeless a few times. It's a turd compared to a custom board but a person learning would appreciate the neutral buoancy to get up and not being twitchy to just learn to do exactly what you said, "go forwards and backwards" to find the sweet spot and go ropeless. The original poster of this thread is very beginner at ropeless as we ride on the same lake and tie up often

Haha...not me! I'm in Cary, NC...Jordan Lake. I wondered how you thought I could just zip over to Austin to buy a board.

I have been on the swallow at my largest 205.... and at 205 I felt the board was just a tag big for me. Ive been on most of the inland shapes if you want to call me.

512-78NINE-three149. I just don't answer the boardstop phones any longer so you can never get me there.

Thanks...I wish I had seen this. I ended up buying the Swallow. I talked with an Inland Surfer rep for about 30 mins and that's what we came up with.

If you talked with Lance from Inland he always seems to point you straight. And it could just be a personal block in my own head. I seem to only like boards that are 5.0 at max length. anything over I just feel like I need to chop it down to 5.0. :)

If your into the $650 range might as well up it a bit and look at doomswell I love my drone hybrid I just got from boardstop

I have the Doomswell skim board and love the way it performs so far, great for both surf style carves and skim board tricks. However, I've literally only surfed it 3 times now and it completely delamed in the top middle of the board, like 1/3 of the board, and now there is a huge air bubble. Going to hit them up and see if they'll stand behind it, that will determine whether or not I buy any more of their boards.

Update: Emailed Doomswell this morning and they promptly got ahold of me to send a replacement board. Top notch customer appreciation!
