I don't have the FAE.

I do have the heater and will put my vote in for the heater.

I'm curious what about the FAE people like? Just the sound difference?

It kills the noise by about 50%. I like to be able to drive the boat and talk to people in the cab. We typically turn the boat speakers down and play the tower speakers for the rider. This is my second boat with an FAE. I will probably get one on my next boat as well. Some people find it a pain to drop the wedge with the FAE, you just have to learn how to wiggle your arm past it to get to the wedge. It takes a couple of tries but it isn't that bad.

that's interesting... we talk all the time and have never felt like I was talking over the exhaust sound. I even installed a toggle on my cabin speakers so I could easily shut them down for when we wanted to talk. Maybe with the longer boat I don't notice the noise as much?

I have never been in a boat with FAE so I don't really know about the difference. We haven't noticed a big problem communicating while running but I can imagine that it is a pretty big difference. We usually have SP3 turned up pretty loud so I guess communication is a moot point with us. LOL.
I just love the sound of the Axis as it drives off into the distance. IMHO putting FAE on the Axis is like buying a Harley Davidson and putting a quieter set of pipes on it. Just my 2 cents. Everyone is different and it just depends on what you like.

Different folks, different strokes. I don't and probably won't ever own a Harley. They are too loud for my taste. I didn't buy the boat for the engine noise either. I have been in boats with the larger engines and the noise is even more amplified. I don't know how they do it.

I've definitely been on some loud wake boats that could certainly use a FAE, but my T22 with the 330 isnt loud at all. Or maybe it just doesnt bother me. I dunno.

I will tell you mine is not loud at all.. we can easily talk to eachother in cabin and as a driver I often talk to the surfer as they are learning. Maybe the lower rpms my 409 runs makes the difference? Either way heater is a must :) and a FAE can be added at anytime.

Sure but the FAE is much easier to add.. well at least is my a24 the heater core is in the front of the boat so its not easily added.
