With your rudder tab adjusted all the way I you don't feel like the wheel is going to get pulled out of your hand?

How many hours are on your boat? Did the original owner have this issue?

The rudder adjustment helped but its still stiff. No the wheel isnt trying to get pulled out of my hand.

The boat had 20 hours when i bought it, got it from a dealer. Yes this problem has always been there. I figured it was just the rudder tab needs adjustment, but its not.

Can you post some pictures of the rudder and fiberglass around the rudder?

Heres some pics I already had on file.

Pic of the rudder tab is show how far it will go. I thought about making the holes longer so they could adjust further. Any ideas?

Have you tried a different prop? Perhaps that Cinco prop might be a contributing factor as well.

If the wheel rotates freely out of water easily both ways, then I would look at your prop. It doesn't appear like your rudder has had previous damage.

I have a similar issue on my 14 A22. Sometimes when I first drop the boat in and I'm moving around the dock area my steering is super stiff all the way around. As I drive a bit it loosens up some. Sometimes it loosens up a lot and feels good other times it will still stay a little stiff. It doesn't happen every time either, its crazy. Asked the dealer and they said they would look at it. Cant remember the thread but I know someone on here had similar issues and ended up swapping out the rudder housing for a "Malibu" one that has the zerk fitting that you can grease.

I agree with the rudder box as I mentioned previously. Low hours or not, mechanical stuff can fail or prematurely wear out or not perform as expected

I do have future plans to get the 2315 prop, but wasnt really going to do it anytime soon. I just cant wrap my mind around it being the prop, or even the steering cable, just because everything is great until you try turning left. Im going to try to make the holes longer on the rudder adjustment and see if that improves it. I dropped the rudder and the rudder turns freely with no noticeable slack in the seal/housing. I put some grease on the rudder, but then found out that was a no-no. The axis rudder boxes are not serviceable and use water for lubrication. I was told to wipe the grease off otherwise it may lock up. So with that advice I plan on dropping the rudder again and wiping it off.

It's not the prop. Replace the rudder box.
