Were you doing wake jumps with that boat? Looks like what happens with jetskis when you send them to high.

Malibu is not sure how they are going to fix the problem yet. There might be something structurally wrong with the hull of the boat as the cracks continue to spread. Just a quick question, does anyone know how much it costs to fix gel coat cracks?

I repair boats and the cost is expensive. If this is a problem from the factory I would consider a new boat under warranty. The cracks are probably in the fiberglass and show in the gel. There is probably a bigger issue at hand. If you want to message me feel free. I do all the warranty work for Malibu and nautique in my town.

My '11 a20 has the same stress cracks along the bottom side of the boat. I noticed mine after the year warranty was up. Tried seeing if my dealer would cover it under the lifetime hull warranty but they said no, that nothing was structurally wrong

Update: they ended up gel coating 5 square feet of the boat. When I asked Malibu for something in paper that said they would extend the gel coat warranty tell next September they said that they could not do that. They also went on to say that it is covered under the life time warranty on the hull bc it is a structural issue. I replied by saying I didn't think it was a structural issue and said that it has to be because the gel coat shouldn't do that. A little confused there. However Gordon Bay Marine is willing to stand behind the product and fix the problem of it comes back next year.

I have a 2013 a22. Just noticed cracks in the rear of my boat right below the 2 cup holders on the rear of the boat above the swim deck. Its a spider web of cracks about 6 inches long. Only good thing about all the problems I'm having, I wont have to store it for the winter. It will prolly take all winter to fix everything thats broke on this boat. LOL

'We are going to stand behind it, because it is a structural issue, so don't worry about getting that in writing'. What? Personnel changes, dealers change, the economy changes. This sounds super creepy to me. What if you get the promotion of a lifetime and move to a different area? I know these things may seem pretty unlikely, but I could easily see you left to hang out to dry next summer when they say, 'sorry, gelcoat is only covered for a year, maybe you should have disconnected the trailer before you decided to go jumping in your truck'.

I know I am new here, but I have been on these types of forums for many years, and there are plenty of threads where that is exactly how it played out the following year. If all else fails, record the conversation (depending on your local laws, you may need to ask for permission).

From my experience, no manufacturer extends a warranty. It sounds to me like he said if it comes back it will be because of a structural issue and if so it will be covered under the structural portion of the warranty. You have a copy of your warranty, right?

If so, you have it in writing.

Another update : so I went to pick up the boat and they had totally missed a spot above the rub rail that was caused by a screw or something. And I made it very clear when I dropped the boat of that I wanted that fixed along with the stress cracks along the side. So I was not very happy about that. And I have to say that patching job on the gel coat didn't look the greatest. If you looked down the side of the boat, it looked like it was wavey or like there was small dents in the side because they didn't sand or evenly or didn't put the gel coat on evenly. U could also clearly see where they ended the patch job. So in the end, I left the boat with them so they could finish the job. And they r delivering the boat to me because I was not going to drive 3 hours there and back again.
