I think you just have to live with the steering interference with the gate attached. If you pull it in enough to get rid of that, I don't think you will have a good wave anymore. The real gate auto-retracts when you go back to idle speed.

I plan to make a new gate out of HDPE.

Yes steering is difficult at idle but the end results are totally worth it. I really like your mount idea especially if you could make it slide in and out so it could be deployed and not deployed and stay attached to the platform. I deff think you need to push it out more as you are not getting the full benifit of the gate

So I indulged on my NSS idea, and my initial concern was that NSS sits flush with the transom and it was going to be impossible to replicate that with the axis hull. So I made a very very crude attachment to see if the the idea would still work even tho it's wasn't flush with the hull.

............ It failed, but not for the reasons I thought it would. First off its to big, to much resistance, I would get to about 8mph and it would just rip it right off. Second the water spray was crazy bad. It's was spraying up and onto the sundeck. So I have to back up, research alittle, and modify the attachment.

So after more research I realized that NSS is completely under the water line unlike surf gate which extends up to the water line. So I'm going back to try and make the paddle smaller and more under the water line, under the platform.

Props for trying something new. Seems like everyone is stuck on the surf gate style (including me). I hope someone stumbles onto something even better.

just try NSS it nasty and I want the best, its a shame we are limited by our boat manufacturer as to the surf enhancement we can have. what I create may not even work but at least I will have satisfied myself knowing I have the best I possibly can. this is what my modifications look like on paper.

Ok so here is prototype #2 I like this however it's going to be difficult to mount if any body can think of a creative way to attach this the same way 1joey is attaching his wicked wave stuff the would be helpful but for now with this ruff prototype it's going to clamp on

Looks like too much surface area too me. I think the g23 only protrudes 1 inch at the max setting.
