I have the same issue - typically when I am throttling to get my boat on the trailer. It seemed to just start happening more this year (2012 A22). I have noticed my steering wheel has slight play in it so I was going to remove the wheel cap and see if something needs to be tightened in there. I plan on mentioning it to the dealing next time i'm in, but I did not have high hopes of them know what it was.

I don't know if this helps anyone but when we took delivery, we noticed a thumping or rubbing noise. It was only when we pulled up a rider or hit wakes while turning. Turned out to be the cables from the helm to the motor compartment. Dealer wrapped them with a foam insulating material and viola no more noise.

my steering started with play in it as well then tightened up and turned out to be rudder box and rudder.
I would read up on the water seal rudder box.. lots of problems with it.. its a nice $700 gotcha.
not sure what causes it but I will see how long my second one lasts. I asked for a grease capable unit but time did not allow. Replaced and like new.
