Gravity fed beer funnel to rear platform?

this might be an even better idea then the one i had, my reason for the question is i can never get my rear ballast bags to drain fully. i know that its not going to drain 100% but there is usually about an inch or two left in the bag. my theory is that the back of the boat must be lower and that once the water in the bag gets lower then the drain port(front of locker) it won't drain. SO ..... i was thinking of a way to flipp the bag around so that the drain port is at lowest possible point. .... only issue i had was i had to T into the drain line of the hard tank so i made a pcv T to go in front of the pump so now the pump can pull from hard tank and bag at same time ... hopefully it will be more efficent in draining and decrease drain time but . this all hinders on my theory

Keep us posted on how it works. I was getting impatient with the drain time of my rear 750s as well. I've got mine to fill bags first so when emptying, the bags gravity-drain into the hard tank which then pumps out the water. I added a tsunami pump to the drain line between the bags and hard tank. Now when I hit drain, the water in the bag actually pumps into the hard tank while the hard tank is actively draining at the same time. Still may have just a bit of water left over at the end but a quick lift of the bag and its pumped out. Definitely sped things up a bit.

I wouldn't say it cuts the time in half by any means but it's definitely a noticeable difference. I can do a side by side comparison next time I'm on the water. I'll pull a pump from one side, fill both and drain simultaneously. I meant to do that when I first put em in.

okay, got it. Short answer is, I do not know.

Long answer is that multiple people have this problem (not just on the Axis or Malibu line either). I do not know if I got lucky or what, but my bags drain all the way and suck flat. My bag gravity drains to hard tank and pumped out of the tank. Only thing on my bags is that they both have vent lines hooked up. I would think this would not really matter, that having no vent to your sack would make a air tight sack and the bag should have no air in it and all the water should drain out of it.

One thing to check is to make sure your drain hose from your sack to your hard tank is as short as possible and as low to the floor as possible. I think my hose is less than 2 feet long, it comes out of the sack on a 90 degree elbow pointed towards the engine, runs flat across the locker floor, in between the engine divider/back seat bracket and the hard tank fittings, makes a tight u turn and enters into the hard tank. Take a look at your hoses and shorten them or reroute them in a similar fashion if you can, also "roll" your sack towards the drain fitting so that the fitting is laying on the floor when the bag is full. The bag has memory and will stay this way and should help draining.

Only thing i can think of with your set up, and I could be wrong, is that since no air can get into the sack (because air will not go up from the hard tank into your sack through your drain hose against all that water pressure, nor will it come from your fill hose as that is coming from your pump and through hull that is underwater, will not let air up that way) once you get down to a couple inches, there is not enough weight/water pressure to push into the hard tank, and since your hard tank is vented, it easily drains all the way and does not get this water lock/suction that maybe your bag is getting??

my bags are vented, i also had a short gravity drain set up like walters sticky. the only difference i had is a selector valve in the feed so i can fill both hard tank and bag at same time, bag overflow was to port in boat side

The Install

T fitting 1" with threaded adapters

Image

Installed into rear pump location no hoses

Hoses ran

With cover panel installed

One side I had to alter the wire path for pump but other then that no real modifications had to be made. It left me with an open port on the hard tank that I just T'ed into the bag vent. Now I just need a little warm weather to try it out
