Hi,
Im looking to buy an Axis boat but cant decide on A20 or A22.
I have small kids, 3months old and 2yr old, so I love the A22 floor space for them to play but my budget is tight also. Is the A20 a lot smaller in term of floor and storage.
I want start wakesurfing and we will be mostly 8 passenger at a time on the boat.
Any input on the difference when used as family boat.
A20 advantages: -garage friendly -price
A22 advantages: -roomier
Thank you

If you're going to be running with 8 people the 22 will be much better suited to your needs, the price isn't too far apart, mainly just depends on the options you go for

I agree with Walter. I came from a 20ft boat before buying my A22 and 8 people would be very cramped before. That extra 2 feet makes a big difference. I had 10 on the A22 and still felt comfortable (5 were kids)

My buddy had an A20 and always had 6-10 in it...he dreaded his decision on the A20 vs the A22 and traded his boat in after 6 months. It's a big difference...get the A22. I only ride with me and my girl and wish there was an A24 lol

I would go with the a22 also. Bigger will also be better for wake surfing.

I have the A20 and love it. Having said that, if you're going to average 8 people I would say A22 no question. I average 5-7 people so the 20 is fine for me.

I have the 22 & have been in the 20 several times. The 22 is noticeably bigger. When you get that many people in there most of em bring some sort of bag or cooler so the space goes away quick. I would deffinately go with the 22 no matter what the price difference. Look for a good deal. The 22 & 20 can be had for pretty close to the same price.

I have a A20 and by no means does it feel or even look like a 20ft boat. If your running 8 people all the time then sure you'd probably need the A22... but Malibu/Axis did a great job on maximizing the space in the A20. The A20 feels and looks like a a much bigger boat than the VTX as well... the A20 is much more spacious... it is very close to the terms of a 21ft boat. We had no problem with 8 people in our boat and still had room to spare... but that also depends on people and their gear. We usually run anywhere from 5-6 on ours so the A20 is perfect for us. If you properly weight the 20 you won't lose very much performance either wake wise. If I am not in my boat we are in my buddies 23 Malibu and we are all very pleased with both wakes. He even said his next boat will be a looking at a VLX. It basically comes down to personal preference... I have had people even ask if mine was a A20 or A22 because by itself to someone looking it's difficult to tell the size difference. I'd say go to the dealership step in one and see what works for you.

Ive been in an A22 but not an A20 so I cant compare yet
I liked the size of A22 but I would have to make sure it fits my garage.
I also need to replace my towing rig, so I need to keep cost as low as possible.
Thank you for all your inputs

I'll put it this way. If you are just going out with even 5 or 6 guys to ride a 20 will fit the bill. If you are going out with your buddies & their wives/girlfriends to party or just relax, they will always end up bringing a bag of something whether it be food, sun screen products, extra clothes or drinks then you will find yourself wanting the extra space of the 22. I was just out over the weekend with 6 people in my 22 & I told my wife after we brought 2 coolers full of drinks & blow up floatables I couldnt imagine having a smaller boat. Sure you could make it work with a 20 but I wouldnt want to.
