I was wakesurfing tonight and all of the sudden we heard a clunk and the boat would not move. We opened up the transmission cover after checking to make sure the prop was still on the boat and there was water coming in from the drive shaft and the drive shaft had came unhooked from the transmission. We were in the middle of the lake and we were the only one out there. After about 45 minutes of the bilge pump running it stopped working and would not pump anymore and the water continued to pour in. The water was up to the bottom of the floor by the time we got it on the trailer. It was a little bit on the stressful side. Does anyone know what would cause the driveshaft to come apart from the transmission. The entire thing slid down and if it had not been for the rudder being there everything would have been at the bottom of the lake. To top things off when the prop hit the rudder it put a big dent in the edge of one of the blades.

wow. sorry to hear that but I am glad you got it back on the trailer. I am betting your 4 bolts either loosened and fell out and/or sheered off of your coupler from the shaft to your transmission. I have been reading a few threads about this on wakeworld, of guys finding random bolts in their bilge, track it down to their driveshaft/tranny coupler. This reminds me that I am going to check and torque these bolts down before I go out again.

let us know how it goes

The boat is a 2012 with about 80 hours on it. I called the dealer last night and they have never heard of anything like this happening. I will keep everyone informed with what I find out. It was pretty scary. Luckily I was just on a small lake but the three of us that were swimming pulling the boat are very sore today. It was a heck of a workout.

Great tip on using the ballast drain pumps AJ. I'd be in a panic for sure- glad you got her out in time.

I tried to get the ballast pumps to start pumping but I could not get them undone.

That is why I like having a regular pump on the boat. Never know when they will come in handy.

I've used my tsunami to purge water from bilge. Had a pnp sac in rear that fitting came loose.
