Don't be the guy on the bank working on his boat all day because he never replaced the impeller, I have been there with plenty of my friends and their boats. I just removed the impeller on my vandall and it's already starting to take the shape of the housing. Indmar recommends checking the impeller annually and say it's good practice to replace it at that time anyway, engine owners manual section 6-14. It's recommended to replace every 2 years but after seeing with my own eyes how tight the housing squeezes it, i'll be changing mine annually. I would suggest you guys do the same to save yourself a headache. It's really easy to do yourself, took me about 5 minutes to remove. All I need to order is the impeller and a gasket. You will need a flathead screwdriver, A 3/8 allen wrench and two 1/2 inch wrenches. It's much easier to just remove the whole housing to get it out rather than try to pull it out still installed on the crankshaft. Then just pull it out with some needle nose pliers. Just a reminder to everyone to check the most forgotten part of your boat, just because it's new doesn't mean it won't leave you swimming!!

I'm not sure, my dealer ordered mine, they said it was the same one that has been used on Malibu for years

hey walter... my boat is at another location (my tools are at my house here) and I plan to change the impeller this weekend. Are theses the only tools I need to change this impeller? "You will need a flathead screwdriver, A 3/8 allen wrench and two 1/2 inch wrenches."

It's either a 3/8 or 5/16, I forgot, also you might take a 5/16 nut driver, sometimes the hose clamps can be tight and give you a hard time coming off and a flathead sometimes just doesn't cut it, remember to be careful when tightening the four brass cover bolts, they are brass and can break very easy, treat it like an rc car or model,

changed the impeller this weekend. It took about 20-30 min - I just hung upside down on top of the engine to get to it. So I did not have to remove the pump. I was able to pop the impeller out with two screwdrivers.

John - I don't think I am going to put the valves in this season. All of my time and extra cash have been going into the havasu house. I moved the boat out there and am slowly getting the place ready for peeps to visit.
