hi everyone, first time, I've got a 2010 a22 w/ 383 hammer head. I got it with 166hrs on it. It was rockwell's demo boat last year. Had dealer service everything before I turned the key. Put 44hrs on it and burned 3qts of oil!! I called the dealer and they said thats about normal for the 383. Anyone else run into this yet? thanks "WAKE UP"

varty- we probably have a similar set up. I have a 383 HH in our axis also. I have put about 115 hours on my boat this year and haven't burned much oil. I have changed my oil twice and it was a bit low but not much. I have heard that the HH burns a bit of oil but thought it was just a rumor (I haven't experienced it) - I would contact Indmar directly to get their feedback (3 qts sounds like a lot to me).

Please post what they say - I am interested.

3 qts does sound like more than normal.

I had a new supra that burned oil really fast and it threw a rod at the 22 hour mark.

Do you see any oil burning when you run the boat? That team boat was not driven hard was it?

Thanks for the replies, I will call indmar and let you know what they say. I don't know if it was ran hard, wouldn't think any more than normal. The dealer said everything looked good and checked out good. No signs of leaks or smell of burning any. It shouldn't be letting that much by the rings, hope not. Thanks again, all the info helps.

Have you checked the plugs or done a compression test?

I know a guy with a 2007 VLX who has had 3 engine replacements from Indmar, beacause of excessive engine oil consumption? He said the latest engine is not burning as much oil.
I have 94.6 hours on our 2010 A22 and have done 2 oil changes with about an additional 1 quart in between oil changes.
