I am about to pick up my new 2012 Axis A22, and I would like to be prepared with maintenance. I need to ask - what Engine Oil is best for the 400hp Raptor Engine for A22?

Thanks,
Philip

This is from the 2011 Indmar manual.

Lubricant – Indmar uses and recommends Pennzoil 15W40 Marine Oil for use in all of its engines except for the 8.1 liter models which use Pennzoil 40W oil and the LS series engines which use Mobil 1 5W30 oil. If Pennzoil Marine oil is not available, any appropriate viscosity motor oil meeting the API ratings of SL/SJ, CI-4, CH-4, CG-4 is acceptable. See Chapter 6, Maintenance, for information regarding the use of synthetic oil.

When did you order your boat? I was under the impression that the Raptor was not an option for 2012 (i.e. replaced with the LS3).

I use Mobil Delvac 1300 Super. Great oil. No need for Synthetics. Although even if you decide to go that route you have to wait till you have at least 100hrs.

Using Shell Rotella 15w40. Looking at the Delvac DatTexasBoy mentioned. Will try and run that next if I can find it

What's an oil thread without discussion about the filter? Currently using acdelco, but I'm going to start looking for a Wix.

Do you guys have a link to where I can find oil filters for my 2012 A22?

Since I'm based here in the Philippines, the marine oil and the oil filters are very very difficult to find around here. Do you guys know which online store I could buy those stuff from?

And what impeller would you recommend for my boat? I was advised that the impeller will be one of the first parts I'll have to fix and change. (Is that right?)

Here are a few options for online parts ordering:

http://www.bakesonline.com/inboardengineparts.aspx
http://www.iboats.com/Indmar-Parts/dm/c ... _id.268627

If you want to look at other brands of oil filters, here are the equivalent part numbers - ftp://ftp2.indmar.us/Service%20Informat ... ilters.pdf.

The sites will also have impellor parts. Ideally you'll want to swap the impellor each year. You can stretch it to 2 years, but it's easy to replace and it's one of those parts that you don't want it to fail.

Indmar has their engine manuals online if you want to get ahead on your reading. It covers engine break-in and includes a maintenance schedule.
