We have had the Ronix Vault which is similar to the State and the Murray on our boat. I use the Vault to get new riders up. I keep the center fin on so you've got three fins. Seems more stable which I think makes the beginners on our boat feel more comfortable.

The Murray board is rides very loose compared to the Vault with its center fin. The new riders that have a little experience prefer the Murray. The like the feeling of letting it slide or edge. I like the Murray. The riders on my boat prefer the Murray 144. They just like how it feels. They all weigh about 170-180lbs. I'm only 152lbs so i ride a different board but I have ridden the Murray just to check it out. I'm 52 btw. The folks that ride the Murray are still all beginners. W2W stuff, no inverts.

You could make the argument to get the State, use the center fin or take it off to let it ride loose/freer- not sure if those are real words. Sorry, I'm going on no sleep right now.

Many people would recommend you get the bigger Murray 150 or even 155.

Here is a interesting discussion on Wakeworld about the Murray. Sean Murray is even in on the discussion about his board. Check it out.

If you were located near me you could take either of the boards out for a test run. Hope some of that helps.

I just ordered a slingshot monad 155. I'm 6' 240 and everyone recommended this board to me. From what I can gather from all the information i found, they board was made for bigger guys or older guys.
I ordered mine from blemboard I got an unbelievable deal on the board and some closed toe bindings

For what it's worth jvanderwoud, I'm 6'3", 210 (hopefully under 200 before summer starts). I would definitely go 150, and would look at 155 for sure. I've ridden a 142 Liquid Force Bob for about 4 years. Toward the end of the summer last year, I demoed a 150 Murray and loved it. I may demo a 155 before I pull the trigger.

Best advice - demo the board before you buy. . . .

I personally ride a 155 nomad or a 144 kruz. I have had 10 other boards in the last 5 years but those two have been my favorite. Unless I'm trying to spin or just get crazy high the nomad is hands down the easiest ride. Big board that rides like it's smaller, super soft landings and rides fast so it makes each ride fun. Oh and I'm 6ft 230.
