I am ready to pull the trigger on a new boat. was all set up to purchase a t23 ( my wife liked that model the best) and met with the master craft people about the nxt22. Its a very nice boat. What are your thoughts vs axis product? The MC people supplied me with a lot of info (michigan study ) on the wake surf systems of both boats, a lot of negative post from malibu/axis people on the quality of new boats being delivered over the last year or so. and a lot of malibu people switching to MC of late because of the quality. I do believe MC builds a better quality boat, but does it warrant the higher price and how does the wake compare to the axis/mailibu. replies asap as I am going to order a boat in the next few days.

The T23 is a far superior value to the nxt22. I had a ton of quality issues on my T22, but they were all resolved by my dealer under warranty. Just make sure to have a good relationship with your dealer in case.

It would be best to demo them if you can. One thing to consider is resale. You will not take the same loss on the axis as you will on the MC. T22/T23 wake and waves are excellent when set up properly. My T22 has a lot more wave/wake then anyone in my crew can utilize.

Is thr NXT 22 still on the narrow beam like the NXT 20? If so that's a deal breaker for me. I'm not a fan of some of the lines on the boat to begin with and then when you start out with like a $20k price difference for a smaller boat it's not even a challenge. OT have you considered any of the other similar priced boats, like Moomba, Tige, MB, etc? Just curious because those 2 boats aren't the closest comps.

Wake and wave hands down go to the T23, no comparison. Demo and make up your own mind. I think storage and capacity/comfort will go to the T23 easily. Brand reputation is MC and I like Ilmor engines.

To me the NXT22 is one of the ugliest boats on the water... my buddy is buying a x23 and imo it a close second. I just can't stand the lines on the boat.

I went through this exact dilemma myself and ended up with a T23. It was cheaper and had a bigger surf wake than the NXT22. It also is much more spacious and holds more gear.

The NXT22 is better at everything else though, it's way better built from a fiberglass standpoint, easier getting on plane, gas usage, noise, ease of folding down the tower, stock stereo, using the dash interface.

I've had numerous issues with my T23 though, burning oil, exhaust manifold overheats, bad dash computer, and some air pockets in the gel coat...I'm still dealing with some of them but warranty work has fixed the rest.

wow this is very helpful. I was going for a water test on the nxt22. It is a very nice made boat, but looking at 1.5 feet shorter and less beam. I think MC makes a better finished boat. The 2017 t23 comes with the 409. can you share with me appx what you paid and % off MSRP. I have received a bunch of great info from Malibu/Axis owner that the local dealer really stands behind the boats and will fix all issue under the warranty.

thanks

The new 6.0 motor in the T23 is a lot better than the 350. It'll take whatever weight you throw at it if not at elevation. I'm not sure what the 17's are going for now because there was a big price jump with the new features and new motor.
