Anyone familiar with Lake of the Ozarks?
I have always wanted to go so we booked a family trip this summer and heard it's actually a somewhat dangerous lake.
We heard it's crazy and boaters on there don't seem to be as courteous or knowledgeable with etiquette/rules and people easily get hurt.
Any truth to this? Or are we still able to find some good water? If so what are some good creeks/coves?

Interested to hear more about it. We'd love to make the trip someday.
Edit...and post up some pictures of your new boat!

Weekends a wakeboat will get pounded in the main channel. Try to find an arm of the lake away from the big cruisers, yachts, and big powerboats. Been there a couple times in a 27' and 30' vee- bottom powerboat and those boats felt small in the open water. Hopefully you'll get light winds when you're there. Plenty of fun restaurants on the water

That's what I have been hearing about the lake. Hopefully we will have a couple of nice days through the week. I will let you guys know my take
I just ordered the new A22 3 weeks ago so I don't have any pics or how it performs yet. Although I am super stoked to ride behind it!!! 97 more days. This forum has been great hearing everyone's experience so far with the brand.

AJ you are 100% right, this is not a lake for wakeboats. The coves are crazy small a lot of turn arounds if you dare to wakeboard (when it's late and the water is calm). This lake is way too busy for what these boats are made for.

We go the Lake of the Ozarks every year, and did many times with parents growing up. There are plenty of places to wakeboard and surf on the lake. The holiday weekends are crazy and not the ideal place for a wakeboat. When we are there during those times we usually follow a larger boat to where were going (party cove) to help with the chop/wakes. The place we stay is pretty close so we are not driving up and down the lake long distances. If that is your goal, then you will def want a larger boat for the weekends. We wait and do our cruising during the week. There is part of the lake that Is state park and has great coves and areas to surf/wakeboard. Overall, yes can geat around but will have to use your head and be careful where you are going.
