My windshield post has cracked as I've seen several other owners on here has as well. From what I understand its about $500 if you can get just the one side of the windshield from the dealer. Im looking for advice on fixing the crack vs. fighting the dealer that is 2 hrs away from me and then paying the shipping to me and having to remove the windshield half and fix it myself. My boat is no longer under warranty and I would just as soon do any work on my boat myself. I dont care to be without a boat for 2 months while they are fixing the problem. I was thinking about taping off the area above and below the crack and trying to fill in the crack with some black epoxy without it looking to aweful. Im concerned that whatever I used to fill the crack may expand from the heat and make the crack larger. Any thoughts or recommendations?

Are you more worried about it structurally or cosmetically?

I had my windshield replaced on that side under warranty and I seem to remember the part price being very reasonable, like a couple hundred. I don't have my receipts anymore as I gave them to the guy who bought that bought but it's probably worth a call to double check before doing anything.

Well both really. It hasnt gotten worse over the course of the season but I also dont want to have it snap all the way and break the glass when we are on the water. I will probably call a dealer and double check the pricing again. Last time I spoke with a dealer, which was when it first happened, they told me it had to be replaced as a whole piece. I think they even told me it was a grand but I see some on here mention it was $500 for the whole upright with glass. I have been out of the boating world for a while with a severe injury so I am just now getting around to checking into doing the repair.

My dealer quoted me just under $500 for the part. Windshield and side arm come as one piece.

Mine just has a chip so I am living with it but I have seen a few of these break like yours. It might be worth raising a little hell with Malibu directly mentioning you have seen others with the same problem and see if you can get a better deal on the part. It's starting to look like a bad batch of support arms was made.

I agree with you vanamp. I think there was a bad batch since Ive seen the exact same crack in a few others on here. Fyi, I dont take the boat over huge rollers at speed and I really baby the boat when the lake gets ruff. I dont even cruise above 22 mph unless the lake is glass. Last time I spoke to the dealer they said that the windshield was made by an outside manufacturer so they couldnt "squeeze me in" under warranty. Im not sure how that makes sense, half of the boat is comprised of parts from companies outside of Axis/Malibu. Maybe I would have better luck complaining directly to Malibu.

I have this exact same issue. I purchased the boat used(2012) at the beginning of this season and it had it when I bought it. The boat was purchased from a reputable dealer, so I assume it's fine. It hasn't grown this season.

Feel free to post on this subject if you have had the same issue. I will take it to Malibu with some ammo.

It would be nice to find out who that outside manufacturer is and see if they would sell the support arm only at a reasonable price. Even better if they could make them in white. But I'm going to assume it's some big factory in China pumping these things out.

Likely malibu owns the tooling so they won't sell to anyone else..
