We just got back from a week at Powell on the 16 t 22 and had some issues.

I blew 3 fuzes on the surfgate. I am lucky the dealership gave me extra.

My check engine light came on saying low oil pressure and checked the dipstick and it was under the add on the very bottom. I added two Quartz and went to almost full. I saw a lot of oil at the bottom of the boat.

Last it took a full throttle to surf at 11.2-11.8 with full ballast and 7 adults with high altitude it had a hard time keeping the cruise green light on.

Calling the dealer tomorrow!

Wow! That's a pretty terrible trip for a brand new boat. I spend a lot of time at Lake Powell (probably 26 days last year, 6 so far this year but 3 more trips planned.

Lake Powell is the LOWEST elevation I run at. I feel so free there. My boat can do tons there compared to reservoirs at 7000+ feet. That said, full ballast (3400 + wedge) and 7 adults is about all I can do for surfing even at Lake Powell with the 409 and a 12 pitch prop. Get used to it. If you wanted to go heavier, you should have bought the 450 engine. If you don't have a 12 pitch prop, you can get that and it will help you get more weight moving. But on a big lake like Powell, that's going to affect some mileage and top end speed.

The dealership should take care of the oil and surfgate issues. I just had my first surfgate issue at 155 hours. Kept getting stuck out. So I'll be at the dealership tomorrow too. Maybe I'll see you!

I can't believe how many people go to Powell in July. What a sweatfest. Come back at the end of September/early October and experience paradise.

The surfgate needs bigger fuses. Had the same issue on my 16 T23. I also have the oil issues I've been told by Malibu and PCM that the boat will use oil while running under the heavy loads I run surfing and boarding. I just get a gallon of oil and check it each time before I go out and fill as needed. Boat now has 85 hours and I just started my 2nd gallon of oil.

Powell is awesome we are going to try and get back in October. We had nice weather this trip too! The dealer said they are going to put a circuit breaker for the fuses hope that helps. The oil thing stinks but I am going to go out and buy some oil today!! Thanks for the tip!

Terrible to have issues on a trip like that. A Powell trip is the trip of a lifetime for most. Lucky you are able to get back again.

I could see the motor burning oil, but what I would be concerned with is that you said you saw oil at the bottom of the boat. That is not normal.

Are they special kind of fuses for the surf gate? I need to probably get some because I am headed to Lake Powell in a few weeks. Need to make sure I'm prepared :)

standard fuses. Get 50's or 60's the 2016 boats have 40's but the new surfgate actuators are causing them to blow.
