Hj all, I am a new member and own a 2011 AxisA20. my problem is that both the front ballast pumps trip the circuit breaker after about 5-10 seconds of running. Any ideas where I should start looking? Cheers Frank.

pull the pumps off and make sure nothing is being blocked up inside the pump and do a quick bench test then test at the connector to make sure theres not a short to ground etc.

Just one more question. Do the pumps come out through the inspection hatch (very little room) or do you need to remove the fuel tank for easy access?

No need to remove the fuel tank, I would take out the big hatch that covers the fuel tank though. It's easier to get to the pumps from the fuel tank side than through the access hatch.

I cant get at the pumps by removing the fuel tank hatch on the A20. I think this may be different on the A22. When I work on my front pumps I do have to access them via the small circular hatch. I had issues with the front pumps before. I pulled this from a past post:

Figured this all out. Drain for the bag is the unfixed pump centered between the two fill pumps. There is a fourth pump that drains the center tank that is forward of the other three. It is attached to the tank. Just an FYI for others. Also, the circular hatch is fun to work in.

For reference, I've got a 2012 A20.

On my old 2010 A22, when I put in a dripless shaft seal I didn't have enough room behind the fuel tank to get to some bolts for the v-drive. I unscrewed the tabs that hold the tank to the sides and then used a pry bar to slide the fuel tank about 4-5 inches forward.

Maybe you could do the same next time? I've not been under the access panel of an A20 so I'm not sure if that would work but it's worth noting if you have to ever do it again.

That's a good thought. I may open it up in the spring just to see if that's an option on my boat. Thanks.

My front bag drain pump started making a terrible noise and quit pumping. I removed it through the circular access hole which was a real pain, and caused a lot of blood loss. Took the pump apart and turned out to be a piece of vinyl from the bag was caught in the impeller. I don't have a clue how you would get to the pumps that are fixed into the boat. Lucky for me this pump was not fixed to the hull.
