Not that I didn't want a new A-22 , maybe should have bought a different one from a local dealer. I now realize the importance of dealer support, I haven't even got it registered or put in the water, but it looks good in my garage. Mistake # 1

Problem is I can't get it registered without a Bill Of Sale, which one would think this simple paper would be easy to get. However I left the dealer in a hurry and said just email it to me..MISTAKE , should have waited for it as after several attempts I still don't have it. Mistake # 2

The boat was never dealer prep set up, so at first glance there appears to be a few issues. No way to attach Bimini , stress cracks , and a few items I'll have to figure out on my own to install like battery's and cables etc. No poles to hold up cover.

What really scare me is when I put this boat in the water what if it has any real problems , or needs warranty work. saw my local dealer at a social function last night and I can clearly see he will be no help.

I am thinking about making my own bill of sale to satisfy the local authorities and get this boat registered so I can through it in the water and see if I have any nightmare issues I will be dealing with and no dealer support.

MORAL OF THE STORY ...BUY LOCAL...

Your not the first to make this mistake. But I have to ask.. were you aware of the consequences of buying from non-local dealer?? Most owners will agree that the dealer can make all the difference.
Hopefully everything will work out

Have you contacted Axis? Maybe they can put some pressure on them.

Guess I didn't think it through.....looked for a good deal, and got one, however maybe paying more locally would have been a better investment.

I bought mine from the guys over at JC. They've been top notch in helping me get everything set up. Once you get your bill of sale, you may want to go see them about helping you get set up.

It is still an Axis boat and the local dealer will make warranty repairs on the boat. They might put you in the back of the line but they should still do work for you.

It might also be a way for the local dealer to earn your business on the next boat you buy. I have seen it both ways with different dealers in how they handle boats that were bought 'out of territory'. If it were me I would be all over it trying to figure out why I did not earn your business in the first place.

Most people new to the boating industry are just not aware how important a local dealer relationship can be. We as customers today are not loyal to anyone in the retail industry. We shop for the best deal on everything we buy(not saying it is the best way) but that is just how the world has ended up. You don't just expect to go and buy your car from your local Ford or chevy guy. You shop around. I see this more and more these days with Axis boats. Not everyone that buys an Axis has come from the towboat industry. They liked the boat and bought one.

Maybe get your boat inline and pay the local dealer to do a prep on the boat and build some goodwill with them.

Is the other shop still open? If they are I would get in the showroom and get the bill of sale in person and don't leave until you have it.

Good Idea, I will let someone locally prep the boat. I guess boat dealers take it more personal if you don't buy a boat from them than say car dealers??????
However how do they know I won't be trading in next year?
I have plenty of clients who ask me where to buy boats, I actually had a client buy another A-22 from the dealer along with mine.....and all my clients buy new docks and boats after we build their Luxury Vacation Home, I have probably personally recommended at least 6 clients who bought 100K plus boats in the last 5 years to the local Cobalt Dealer.

You never know where your next sale comes from....

This is when I feel the top dealers in the nation step up and take care of out of area buys and turn that customer into their own. I get that the dealers can initially be upset by the purchase but why not use this as a learning experience to find out why they lost the sale initially and what they could have done to have made the sale in the first place.

What do they say? Bees with Honey? or something like that.
