Looking for the general consensus of the forum, are you guys flushing the transmission annually per the manuals recommendation (don't have it in front of me but I think that's the way it read) or are you doing it at the 300 hour mark?

Asking because I recently asked my dealer and they said Malibu/axis is no longer telling them to do it during the winterization process but rather during the 300 hour service.

Do mine every 50 hours with the oil...

I've been changing trans fluid annually (approx. 70 hrs) and buy it from the Napa parts store. It's too easy to change the oil/filter, trans, and Vdrive fluid to tow the boat 2 hours each way and pay the dealer to do it.

Well in that case I'm definitely going to do mine here on the next oil change. Any good references you've found/used for the steps of changing those fluids? I've got an oil extractor that I use regularly for oil changes... I'm assuming I'll need that for the trans?

I use the oil extractor and siphon it from the fill/check location of the trans and Vdrive. IMO it's much quicker and easier than an oil change. I siphon the most rear part first, then the front and refill to specs after both are empty. Just follow the manual on the type of fluid to purchase.

Hey man just to clear it up, I keep seeing some people differentiate between the transmission and the v-drive. Transmission is for shifting, and v-drive is the gearing itself right?

Basically what I'm wanting to double check is if I hit both of these dipsticks seen below on my ZF45IV with the appropriate amount of Dexron III Mercon, I'm covered for the v-drive/transmission? Or is there a hidden gearbox somewhere that I'm not seeing lol.

Siphon from the locations above and refill to specs. As far as the differences in the vdrive and trans, I'd rather let someone who knows more answer that. I'm not a professional but with the help of this forum, the Malibu crew, and the manual a guy can find his way around in a short amount of time.
