I received a mission prototype surfgate a few weeks ago and have since surfed with it about a half a dozen times. This particular model works with the 2010 platform in both the A20 and A22.

First let me say the customer service received from Kris at Mission was excellent and the surf was even better. I don't need to explain what surfgate does, but I can tell you that set-up for surf is just about as easy as it is for wake-boarding.

My preference is all ballast full, wedge down, and an additional 500-1000 lbs in the center or bow. Kris recommends a 60/40 split on weight and I agree. I have two 900lbs plug and play sumo sacks in the rear and I estimate they were about 3/4 full with a ronix telescoping 1100lbs sack about 3/4 full.

The build quality of the surfgate is just as I expected. The surfgate was very well thought out and athletically appealing. It comes fully assembled and ready to go with no drilling or modification to the platform of any sort. Just slide it on and secure it to the transom tie down. The strap provide works great, but I took it just one step further like the picture shows below. It looks a bit on the crude side with what I have done and will be looking to make a more visually appealing securing system later. Installing and securing takes about 15 seconds. The strap provided now looks far more simplistic and effective taking even less time to install. The mission surfgate has not scratched the gel coat of the boat or swim platform as I thought it probably would. It won't budge once the transom link is tight.

Also, it floats. The strap you can't really see in the first picture is not what is provided now. It broke my second time out and I had to back track a few hundred yards to find it floating where is broke off.

I have a few more pictures and video clips on Instagram if you follow (_nutzach) or (Missionboatgear).

How do you get taptalk to allow video attachments?

Build quality and robustness is excellent. It is big, but it does fit under the in the battery and amp storage compartment so it doesn't take up any unnecessary space on the floor.

The video below is our first day out with it. While it was a lot better than what I had before it was no where near the size it is now. I put this together for Kris at Mission and was going to take it down once I got some better footage.

Listing did not seem to help and no additional weight was added to the bow during this surf session.

I would say it's near twice the size the last time we were out and I can surf anywhere from 10.4 - 12.6 mph.

I have one as well and I would highly recommend. I have the 12-13 platform and with a little trimming I got it to fit perfectly with the same results. The quality, fit, finish, packaging, and customer service was top notch!! Worth every penny!

Thanks for posting this, definitely glad to see another option out there.

Love the video - Did you ever try more weight up front? Wonder if you can get that wave even longer before it falls over?

Everyone knows that Nautique had to pay Malibu millions for the NSS, right? The dude making these things is bold because he is about to get sued, big time. A judge has already ruled in favor of Malibu once and they will do it again!

Maybe not - I haven't read the entire patent application, but the abstract (#5 on this list http://patft.uspto.gov/netacgi/nph-Pars ... C534%2C214) refers to an adjustable wake system. Most of the DIY systems wouldn't qualify as adjustable.

I did. I shot this video the first day we took it out. Just last week we added more bow weight and the wake was large and much longer. I'll try to get some decent go-pro footage put together next time I'm out.
