I recently took delivery of a 2015 T22, and had dealer install additional PnP straightline 600 lb sacs in the rear lockers. First weekend of use was great, but second weekend, not so much. It turns out that when the sacs fill completely, the rear tubing connecting to the hard tank (I gather from other postings that this is a secondary drain) gets pushed backwards to such a degree that fitting into the hard tank pops out, and as a result, 100s of gallons of water drain into the bilge. Happens on both sides. Not good.

Took it back to the dealer and they simply took out the secondary drain tubing and capped that port, and then capped the hard tank. Yes, the problem, doesn't occur now, but yes, it takes twice as long to drain the sac, and the sacs won't even completely drain.

I am wondering if anyone else has experienced or seen this issue and has an idea for the best way to address.

When I got my 2014 A24 I knew I was going to use bigger sacks than most and foreseen the issue you are having with even just the smaller 600's. A couple people were having issues back in early 2014 as well. Thinking outside the box and just looking at the rear drain I made this mod to the rear because it was too simple a solution. This mod has caught on with quite a few others doing it and takes 30min to an hour to do on your own (beer consumption varying). All you need is four 90 degree elbows, Dremul tool, and marine silicon. I can't believe your dealer is so lazy to "fix" your issue by capping off half your drain. Goes to show how little dealers and/or service techs follow and learn about common issues with their product line. Here's the post I made.

Thanks so much for the info, AJ. I hate to bother, but could you give me a simple step by step? I haven't done one of these mods before (not much of an engineer), but would like to. I think I get the idea from the pics, but don't want to screw something up. Really appreciate your expertise.

Instead of using a couple 90s and keeping the factory rear drain setup, you could simply T into the drain pump.

The way my boat came, 12' w/ 1 1/8" hoses, the drain pump coming out of the tank has a T, one end is threaded into the pump, the other has a short hose that goes into the rear port of the bag. This way, the pump pulls water from the tank and the bag. My ballast drains crazy fast and will completely empty the bag.

A quick step by step:
1) cap off the tank port....Already done by your dealer
2)remove the rear drain pump and associated fittings.....Leave 90 that threads straight into the tank
3) install a 3/4" all-thread pvc section along with a 3/4" pvc T fitting (female T)
4) Install pump into one end of the T fitting
5) install 3/4" thread/ 1 1/8" hose barb fitting to the upper T port.
6) Install roughly 5" of hose to the hose barb fitting with your 90 quick release bag fitting.
