So those of you that have ridden both the 14 and previous years a22 and now the newly redesigned 15 a22, do the wakeboard wakes differ? I'm asking this because I've heard they are redesigning the a20 for 16. I had an '11 a20 and it was great. Won't have a chance to demo a 16 a20 before the boat shows this winter so I'm going to go ahead and use the feedback from the new a22 compared to the old and hope it goes the same for the a20.
So does the 15 a22 have a better, same or worse wakeboard wake than the previous models? Thanx to all in advance

Sorry if this has already been discussed elsewhere

Ed (ELC) would be a great person to talk to about this, hopefully he chimes in. He had a 10 A22 and now has a 15 A22. He rides with great riders, heavily weighted, as well as small kids with no ballast... in both his boats. Maybe you can PM him.

haha... thanks john.

I spent countless hours behind my 2010 only wake boarding or skating. that wake is awesome... you cant' mess it up.
Pro's:
clean wake down to 16.5 mph for the kids or new riders
huge wake with a longer transition with no wedge and weight
keep adding weight and the wake gets bigger
use the wedge and it adds a lip at the top

Cons:
some times the wedge adds a lip thats to pronounced and can kick you awkward

2015 a22 wake board wake is pretty similar in shape
Pros:
similar wake shape to old hull
a little more abrupt without the wedge
is still clean around 17 mph
still gets huge with more weight
adding the wedge doesn't give such a pronounced lip

Cons:
wake is more sensitive side to side - you either need lead bags or people need to move around to clean up the wake. Its still easy to clean up.

I also never surfed behind my 2010 but it is absolutely SOOOO easy to set up the surf wave behind the 2015, its hard not to at least surf a bit. The 2015 also handles chop better than my 2010.

With the new gear ratio on the 15's with 350 hp compared to the old 330, how much more weight if any are you all able to pull? On my '11 a20 with standard 330, it was underpowered for the weight and crew I had. The upgrade to the 450 is pricey tho and not sure it's be worth it in a a20.

I actually had the malibu hammerhead motor in my old a22. I ran that with an acme 1235. With the new gear ratio, the PCM 350 and an oj 945 I really can't tell a big difference out of the hole. The big difference is top end speed and RPM's are a bit higher. I can't imagine an a20 with the new gear ratio and right prop being under-powered at all.

I'm not familiar with that hammerhead motor. From the little google search I just did, it looks like that would have been an upgraded engine back in 2010? My last a20 had the 330 and wouldn't plane with 750's in lockers extra bow triangle on top of the mushroom, wedge down and 4 people in the boat. I was running the 2315 prop too. I would get so pissed lol.
I have to stick with a20 cuz of a less than 21' rule on my local lake.
