The day finally came to pick up our boat..............and it couldn't have been much worse weather! But we made the best of it and still made it home safe and had a lot of fun. This is a whole different animal from our 1996 Malibu Sunsetter LX, can't wait to get behind it!

Dealer is about 100miles from our house and the lake they take people out on is another 45minutes beyond that so it was a bit of driving and hit or miss on rain but boats are supposed to get wet right?

Anyways, boat looks awesome and we're totally stoked to finally get it, and just in time for Memorial Day weekend!

Here's us all hooked up at the boat ramp....

Gettin' wet for the first time....

Just pulled out....ba dum tssss....

Tow flaps I made to hopefully keep rocks off the hull while towing...

And a shot next to the ole' girl....with my wife pretending to drive the new girl....LOL

Overall a pretty smooth process and the fun has just begun. Plenty of more shit to buy to deck it all out....ballast bags, surf pipe, finish the stereo, surfboard, etc etc, the list never stops I'm sure.

Hope to see you guys out there sometime, and forgive me in advance for any seemingly stupid questions I may ask while I learn the ropes. :D

Nice! Good color scheme. And you can stow it without any tower dropping.

Thanks guys, we're enjoying it so far, almost through the break in hours so we can really start using it.

And yes, we're buckeye fans, lol. O-H!

Little update now that we've had some time to enjoy it. About 35 hours on it so far and no issues to speak of, very happy for that. *knock on wood*

Bought the wakemakers panel reinforcement kits....never ran without them but easy and cheap for the peace of mind.

Image

Did the AJWest(?) rear ballast drain mod...

From this factory....Image
To this...Image
Finished up...Image

Threw 900's in the rear and a 650 up front.

Mounted the fire extinguisher as I was tired of it being in the way under a seat....Image

Bought a bow piece from GatorStep....Image

Awesome stuff, I'm probably going to order the gunnel pieces and possibly the entire floor this winter as I'm less than impressed with the snap-out carpet.

Bought a CIPA 180 mirror and windshield mount....Image

Put some 3d reg #'s on...look great and price was good also. Image

And.....got my first scuff....:( Fortunately it's super light/can't even feel it so I'm pretty sure the clear is just scuffed and it will buff out. Not sure how it happened but glad it wasn't worse. Image

Been playing around the with surf wake...this one was of the first days and my wife behind the boat just trying to stay up, LOL. But we're getting it dialed in more every time and I've been able to go ropeless! Image

Here are a couple more. We ended up buying another board for me since I'm hefty....and a surf rope as well which is much easier on the fingers when trying to get in the sweet spot.

Just got our daughter a Scamp this week so hoping to get her up for her first time tomorrow!!! And I realized I need more racks, LOL.

And finally a goofy pic of me the first time I went ropeless. :) Image

All photos are cell pictures taken by my wife while she was driving as well, hope to get the go pro in action tomorrow.

As far as setup I've got the 900's as full as they will go (need to add a vent line to them to fill more), the 650 bow as full as it will go, only person on the boat is my ~130lb wife driving, and I stuff a 750lb fatsac under the observers seat dash area and filled it probably 1/2 to 2/3's full. Wedge is down and speed about 10.6 I believe.

Having tons of fun learning and any tips/comments appreciated.

What board did you buy? What's your weight? I'm a big guy and surf better at 12.0 but not GPS verified.

I'm 275 and bought a CWB Keg at a marina on Norris Lake last week when we were down there for vacation. Locally there isn't anywhere to try boards and I'm hesitant on dropping $500+ without testing anything especially since before last week I'd never done it. After a couple days with the CWB Ride that we got with the boat I could tell it didn't have enough float for my weight, my wife @ 130 it was fine. So we demoed a couple boards, 1 being a Hyperlite Broadcast and the other being this CWB Keg. The broadcast was a big better than the Ride but still didn't enough. The Keg on the other hand was awesome, literally the first time I was up on it I was running into the back of the boat. I actually fell trying to stop once and shot the board up over the transom and onto the sunpad, whoops! After an hour of trying that out I figured what the hell, I'll buy it figuring I'd pay a premium on the water but I wanted to surf NOW. Ended up going back to the Marina and buying the LAST Keg they had for sale for $200 w/ tax after some back and forth negotiating. I found it online for $380-$420 so I was like hell yeah! The fins are adjustable and they are in the rear position now which is supposed to be more stable but I will be moving them to the forward position this weekend as its supposed to be more 'loose' as I get better but I can still 'carve' it and whatnot, so it's plenty for me for now and it's an awesome feeling just being able to stand on the board and have the wave push you. With the other 2 boards I tried I was working it constantly and couldn't even go ropeless.

How do you like your boards? I will probably buy another one over winter as I progress but again, no complaints with the CWB Keg.
