We just purchased a new 2014 T22 Axis. The foam rubber on the swim platform gets so hot that it burned my hand and knee while getting on before launching the boat. I cannot get on board from the side of the trailer because the boat is so wide, it extends over the fenders. It was only 88 degrees. I can't imagine how hot it gets when it is 100 degrees. I called Axis and complained and they said no one else had complained about this rubber getting hot. We installed a telescoping ladder under the swim platform to make it easier to board from the water and from the launch ramp. The dealer suggested we put a towel on the platform. I just wonder if anyone else had noticed how hot the foam rubber gets on these new boats. Does anyone know if Seadek also gets burning hot? This seems to be a safety issue.

You are crazy. Mine never gets that hot. Dump some water on it before you hop on the swim deck. I usually get on my swim deck with my sandles on and then take them off as I climb into the boat.

Yep just wet it down before. After that you should be good.

Does your boat sit out in the sun all day before you put it in the water...? If so, I guess I could see how it could get hot. I have never noticed mine getting that hot. By the time I usually get on mine we are in the water and it stays wet most of the time. I will say that my step down spot between my rear two cup holders which is made of the same stuff gets extremely hot during the day when we are out in the sun ALL day. I usually just splash water on it and it takes care of it.

This is a common problem with most of the boats I have had over the past 10 years. And the darker the material the hotter it will be. A splash of water might do the trick or wearing your sandals to get on the platform. You can try and buy an aftermarket deck from seadeck. maybe get a really light colored deck? But then you will be fighting the ugly dirt marks on it.

Or buy a cover to just cover the platform and that will keep it cooler than being exposed to the sun.

Got any suggestions on where to get one of these covers at? I want one for my boat while I store it during the week.

Thanks for the suggestions and the psychiatric diagnosis. If we are already in the water it it easy to splash water on it. However, if you are loading little kids on the ramp, be warned that they will get burned if they do not have their sandals on.
There has to be some reason why this rubber is getting so hot in
the sun. What brand is Axis using now?
Is Seadek any cooler, in the opinion of anyone who has used it?
The little seat between the cup holders can get incredibly hot as it is not down in the water.
I don't think Axis should ignore this problem. And it is a problem.

not sure who they use. It could be seadek.

As for a cover. We have a local canvas shop that can make them. I am not sure if there is an aftermarket company that markets them. They made a custom tower cover for the new Malibu boats and they just came in and made measurements off the showroom floor. so see if your local boat company has a canvas shop they use locally.
